So I just went for a rip in the all new electric Ford Lightning and all I have to say is "Holy F#CK!" That thing was way faster than it should have been, and while it on paper it can't beat the hellcat, in the real world it would smoke it. I only say that because it has 100% torque and 100% traction right from the dig. I swear that truck pulled a wheelie! I was very impressed. If the hellcat could get traction on the street I don't think that truck would be able to touch it, but man I was shocked. Best part about it was it was silent. As we were getting after it nobody blinked an eye. Try that in the hellcat and everyone looks in your direction! There is something to be said about being the grey man on the street.

It's kind of early. Are you sure you weren't dreaming? Just kidding. It's the future so we better warm up to it.

May be a fun expensive toy but useless as a work truck. Some YouTube guys, local to me, recently tested it by seeing how well it would tow a medium sized camper trailer. They could only get around 85 miles before needing to find a juice bar :ROFLMAO:. No thanks Ford, I’m still happy with my 2001 F150 Lariat.

I've been preaching this for years but most people need to make a bunch of noise to feel a tingle in their little dingus. I'm a "hustle in silence and let the results make the noise for you" kinda guy though. With a big dingus.

Yeah that about sims it up for most current electric vehicles. Instant torque and traction. Weird, mind-bending acceleration due to lack of expected sound. They have the potential to be great, but are the equivalent of a flip phone right now. As the tech improves they’ll probably be amazing. The biggest issue I see is their environmental impact. It’s going to be huge and will take some creativity to solve it. They are NOT green.

The article I read, they had to turn back and abandon the test!

Well, the Lightning comes in a pretty wide range of options. One of which is a much more expensive longer range option. You won't get any argument from me, EVs are kind of shit for towing, but I think you can get around 200mi of towing with the "expensive" Lightning. And, by expensive, it's about double the price of the entry level.

Well, the low end lightning is kind of like towing a boat with a Honda Civic. Granted, the truck can tow the boat, but like a car that can't tow, it doesn't have the powertrain to actually do it. Those low tier Lightnings are for the city bro bois whose trucks will never see dirt under their tires (or likely ever have a hitch installed).

If you've got a buddy in fleet sales he can order your base XL truck with the fleet extended battery pack and youll get the same battery as in the high dollar truck.

What model did you drive? Believe all Ford LIghtning EVs are all wheel drive. That pretty much accounts for the traction from a dead stop.

Prices for the 2023 models are up quite a bit. Link:
