When my better half and I where out for a cruse Saturday we ran into a writer for Hot Rod. He told me that the way the splitter is mounted that if you hit a parking curb that it will buckle the front fender. I just wanted to pass that along.

Definitely reason to back it up in a parking space if feasible. Helps make use of that backup camera.

if you tear your splitter off your bumper at all your whole bumper is trashed...its what happened when i put mine in the ditch....i really didnt damage my bumper at all.....just the splitter....but because it tore off a mounting bracket off the bumper i needed a new bumper

your going to scrape your splitter on the ground...100% chance of it.....i have the zl1 splitter guards for that....as far as a direct hit to a curb you just need to park 2' away from everything

You may mess up your bumper if you hit/scrape something hard enough with the splitter, but you would have to hit pretty damn hard for it to affect the *fender*.

2 mph into a ditch is what did mine in, but thats with the cars weight pushing down and balancing on the splitter

i think its possible to damage it if you went 2mph into something....most parking barriers are low enough that id think the splitter would just ride up over it

Dodge should have designed this part to be easily replaceable.....they made the price very low, but the labor very high.....

The splitter on the Challenger has been a pain in the buttocks for years. It was a pain in my 2009, a pain in my 2013, and a pain in the HellCat as well. The trick, as huggytree pointed out ^^^^^, is to leave 2 - 3 inches of space between the car, and everything. :)

The back up camera was put there to avoid these front end mishaps in parking lots. Avoid all curbs if possible. Parallel parking is a bit scary if there is high curb but those from the northeast should be well versed and had plenty of practice to avoid the rash.

Try driving a lowered Challenger. My last Challenger was lowered on coilovers.. stock suspension was on for less than a week. Splitter was pretty low but the side rocker panels were actually the lowest part of the car. Pain in the ass but was worth it.. constantly having to go at angles in driveways, curbs, etc. Couldn't really get it most lifts or alignment racks. Had to rely on one single lift at one of two local dealers it would clear on. And one tire shop that had an in-ground lift when it came to alignments. Hitting a truck tire at 65 mph made things that much worse, too.

I thought I would lower the Hellcat before I took delivery, but it's actually not too much higher than my last Challenger was so I'm leaving it alone for now.

Just a general warning, Take care of them spoilers. I just had my nose replaced and the spoiler was on national back order. We lucked out and found a dealer that had one in stock in the entire state but if not for that I would be waiting a while...

My car is lowered 1.25" and in 800 miles I havent rubbed or scraped anything. I am just mindful of approaches, speed bumps etc.

I have a new splitter in the wrapper, courtesy of my selling dealer, in case I do manage to garf this one up..

i try to leave 12" of space in front of me, but end up with 24"...

i also look for end parking spots and park way over too

i scraped my gt500 today just going down my driveway too fast.....the nice thing is they have a 2 part splitter...the bottom 1/2 is replaceable with a few screws and clips for $250.....ive already replaced it once

wish dodge made theirs as simple.....

100% chance all the splitters will eventually get damage

just try not to push against it so it tears off the bumper like my accident did....tear where it bolts to the bumper= you need a whole new front end
