I have a Gen 5 3.0 on my Redeye. Was running good but started rattling at idle with 3000 miles on it. I run ATI 10% lower with a 3.750 upper on 93 oct. Swap to a 3.250 on E85. I filled out the form on Whipple's webpage. Tech asked me to send a video with car running at idle. I told tech it sounded like the noise was in the snout area. I asked if Whipple has upgrade bearings for snout and i think i am capable of replacing the snout bearings myself. Tech said it did not sound like snout bearings to him. He advised me to request a return number and send it to Whipple for inspection. The return number did not come with a prepaid shipping label. I pulled blower off at 3500 miles and shipped it ground shipping and $6000 insurance. Cost $245 to ship and took 7 days to travel from FL to Ca. It arrived at Whipple on the 23rd, 2 days before Thanksgiving. On Mon the 28th and Wed the 30th, I sent email asking what they found to the same one that the tech used when asking for a video. I did not get a reply. I called Whipple on Thursday Dec 1st and i was transferred to Mike. After a short hold he came back to the phone. He said case was bad and new case was being powder coated today. Should ship out Mon. Mon my email alerted me that Fed Ex was going to deliver a 75lb package Wed by 8pm. Supercharger was delivered Wed afternoon. My Whipple had very little wear on the rotors. Fixed blower looks like it may be a new one or they recoated the rotors and replaced the case. Whipple covered the 2 day priority return shipping. Sent new gaskets, seals and oil. So i feel that Whipple scores a 10 for quick turnaround time and no hassle warranty. I am hoping the case problem has been redesigned so it does not start rattling again in a few thousand miles when it is out of warranty.
I'm having the same issue. Did you have to send the whole blower back with the lid or just the lower unit with the runners. :(

So has anyone else gone the route to pull their blowers off and send them back yet? Has Whipple mentioned anything about their being a "fix". just don't want this thread to die without an actual solution.

The 2650 is a whole new gen of blower for Maggie. Everyone in the LT4 arena is running them when they upgrade. Very few run anything else. They are solid and probably the most effective blower on the market.
Speaking of Magnuson blower news, they have taken one lobe off of each rotor and gone with three-lobe rotors in their new TVS X3100 3.1L supercharger, just out lately.

Hey guys I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else has switched to a Gen 5 Whipple 3.0 on their hellcats or Gen 3 hemi and have had any issues? I have seen more than one failure from friends and acquaintances recently and when they talked to Whipple apparently they will not warranty a GEN 5 Unit that has signs of "over spinning" and that over spinning is 18,000 RPM or more. They said if I plan on running more than 18,000 rpm I should buy spare whipple superchargers and switch them out to be rebuilt periodically.

This unit was touted as being able to spin faster and longer then previous units and could be run 22,000-24,000 rpm plus with no issues. I am currently running around 18,200 with my setup and making the same boost as my stock un ported hellcat blower did at 21,462 RPM redline. I didn't want to push the stocker any further so I upgraded. I have built motor all supporting mods to support some serious boost and now I'm thinking I should have went another route.

Is anyone else running a Gen 5 and if so what's your pulley combo/rpm you are running? How many passes/miles do you have on your setup?
what kind of whp and stats are you getting at 18,200 rpm...and what size pulley...thanks

I just put my just warranty repaired about six weeks ago 3.0 blower on with a 3.0 upper and +10 ATI lower haven’t been on dyno yet but my guess based on last dyno pulls before rebuild is around 1100 Hp to the tire and probably around 1000 torque as I've had my heads redone and ported by Thitek while it was out for warranty rebuild. Also upgraded to 625 studs and Cometic oring type firestopper gaskets. Seeing about 24.4 psi peak boost and 2450 Aircharge. It’s a rear Handfull atm, getting new rubber on the rear Friday as by Nitto DR’s are smooth from spinning to 120-130 trying to get a clean 60-130 pull has been impossible. I tried a justbusing 4th gear dyno pull on the street, 2500-6000 and she broke loose twice but gave a nice steady 45 degree incline the whole way. On new tires in the fall first reduction did 5.34 best 60-130, hoping to get that kind of time or better consistently now. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
