I’m a new member and it’s my first post. I’ve been on the sidelines reading topics about our cars for years and I’m looking into getting a Gen 5 Whipple 3.0L and would sell my Redeye 2.7L supercharger. Wasn’t aware of the 40 posts before posting something for sale so until then, has anyone had good results with the new 3.0L Whipple. I know their 4.5L didn’t perform too well on this platform.

The shop I go to said they finally got one that they ordered in March or April but wanted to see other peoples experiences first before getting rid of the Redeye supercharger.
I guess it’s a waiting game at this point.

The 4.5L does perform well on the Hellcat platform, it just typically works best with larger cubic inch stroker engines with max effort builds. The Gen 5 should more efficient though, remains to be seen if it can outperform the 4.5L on a max effort build.

From a coworkers experience with the 4.5L and a 426 stroker, it kept going into limp mode, had throttle body issues, was running really hot, and was only making 1050rwhp on 25psi. He got rid of it and went with a Magnuson, and all his problems were solved. Made a tab bit more HP with only 23psi.
Could have very well been an isolated event though

He needs to find an experienced tuner. Top tuners don't have limp mode issues with the Whipple 4.5L.

I’m not sure who he went with tuning wise but he made more power with the Magnuson. Either way, I’m looking forward to see how this new 3.0L performs and if it’s more efficient than the 4.5L.

It will be more efficient. The design is a move towards the Magnuson, which is a better design, and away from the classic twin-screw design, which is not efficient due to a few factors regarding the micro air flow between the rotors near their most-completely-meshed engagement. There is just too far to travel too quickly, and this adds too much heat, or just gets wasted as pressurized, heated, air carried through to the place where the rotors start to open up again, relative to each other.

The Magnuson has the least-tortuous air path from snout to output for the air.

The shop told me the whipple has a 16 week lead time. Not sure I want to wait that long tbh. Magnuson was always an option as well
The Will-O-the-Wisp Magnuson 3.1L dancing just beyond reach is something I keep an eye on, but I'm in no hurry to change the blower. It will be an interesting unit, if Magnuson ever picks up the ball and throws it.

Hey guys I have the 3.0 5th gen in my Durango. This thing is a beast! 792 whp at 11.5 psi and intake temps never went above 115 degrees between pulls.
But whoever needs one now, we have one full kit for sale 8k for a hellcat. Adam from Spankin time asked me to post this up. So I would give you guys the opportunity to snag this. All the new 5th gens still on back order waiting for parts. But we have one full kit. Message me only if your interested.
I was gonna use this for my redeye. But she’s still new and I would like to enjoy my warranty for another year before I send it!

Nice! Waiting for next month to get my 10rib kit in to run more. My Durango has a built 401. It’s pulls so much harder than my older 2.9 whipple and cool intake temps.

BGE 412 Stroker. Have a 2.5 GripTec pulley, ATI 18% lower. 108mm N Williams TB. Doing R&D with SmoothBoost, have their controller on now working out fitment bugs.

I dont think the 426 is the right combo for a 4.5 whipple

Nice I had the smooth boost on my 2.9 whipples and it worked well.haven’t added it to the 3.0 yet. Will be doing all this in April. Adam has done this a few times. And it works well. But damn! A 2.5 on yours? Damn you must be over 1100 whp! The blower is insane!

Hoping for 1000whp on E85. Guessing it will be fuel limited.

Should have the fitment issues worked out on smooth Boost by the time you're ready for it.

Contact issue here, changed rod.

angle issue. moved motor to front

I'll be fitting updated Monday

Yeah I understand. Adam said once he machined some parts to make that fit. Everything else was down hill. I just had ptfe -8 lines and return installed with 1300 cc injectors and a triple Holley 540’s. Works very well. Good luck man!
