Is the 1,000-HP SRT Ghoul a Real Thing? Maybe!
The 1,000-hp SRT Ghoul started out as an April Fool’s joke but has gained steam—and Dodge has a ton of reasons to build it.
They could have put out a Hellcat powered Viper and it would have sold.... instead they kept putting out the same tired thing...I Hope that they don't waste their capital on building this and put the money towards bringing the Viper back! If they could make it a mid engine (or front engine would still work too) and a DCT transmission, that would be Awesome! They could either make the motor an all aluminum V8 with a pair of intercooled turbo's or Heaven help us, an all aluminum V6 with a similar forced air setup.
Before you discount the V6 setup, think of the Ford GT with its turbocharged EcoBoost setup. That setup makes some steam and works Great on that light car. If they made the tub in carbon fiber and then other components in aluminum or some other lightweight material (keep the weight down so that 600-700 hp would make it a Rocketship) and then throw in an option for some carbon fiber wheels and you've got something Special!
An 8-10 speed automatic or a DCT would help this to sell better than the past generations of Viper did and actually make the car quicker/faster. They could make this to compete with the Z06 and take back some of GM''s market share, especially if they could actually get the car to the customer. The Z06 is going to be a tough one to beat though because it gives Supercar like performance at a more than fair price for what it offers.
If Dodge is listening, since you're building electric performance cars now too, build the Viper in an electric/hybrid format. ICE people would get their gasoline fix and electric peeps would get theirs too.
Just kind of dreaming out loud here because I Really like the Viper and think that Dodge could make it work, if they were motivated enough.
I Apologize for the hi-jack Mostgrosstoast but Appreciate the opportunity to vent my Dreams.
So you'd be ok with only 500 ft/lbs of torque off idle???????My preference would always be a small V8 Hybrid. I want the exhaust sound of a V8 and the advantages of instant torque from electric motors.
Sounds good to me. ONLY, LOL. There's a reason why some of the world's quickest hypercars are hybrids. So you'd be ok with only 500 ft/lbs of torque off idle???????
No effort from Dodge in the Viper? You're probably right as they only broke damn near every track record on the planet with the Gen 5 ACR.They could have put out a Hellcat powered Viper and it would have sold.... instead they kept putting out the same tired thing...
Say whatever you want about the Corvette, but at least they were making an effort.... the Viper... not so much
Selling the same car, every year, is what I'm referring to. Also, most companies didn't make the effort that FCA did to set those same records... This is no diss on the Viper, it's simply bad management. The car had stagnated and people weren't doing anything about it...No effort from Dodge in the Viper? You're probably right as they only broke damn near every track record on the planet with the Gen 5 ACR.
You know the guy that designed the car was taller than that and it was designed for people your height. If you race helmet is an issue but for $200 you can lower the seat. Leg room isn't an issue. At 6’1 will I fit in a Viper?
I didn’t when I tried years ago but I was 6’3 then…
🤣
