Hello everyone, I trust this announcement finds you all well. It certainly has been a memorable year to date – all for the wrong reasons. Hopefully by this time next year, COVID19 will be but a memory and the world will be back to some semblance of normalcy, whatever that may look like.
We wanted to update you on the proposed 2021 date for the next GTALx Mopar centric charity/social fundraising event benefiting Peel Children’s Aid Foundation.
Here in Canada, the projected date where the entire general population will be vaccinated is next September 2021. Right now, that’s all the data we have. That may change but for now, we’ll use that as the yardstick. That being the case, we have tentatively scheduled the 2021 GTALx event for Saturday, August 7, 2021 under the assumption that either the majority of the population will have been vaccinated or the infection rate has dropped below levels causing concern.
Starting in February, we will be contacting those organizations who have generously supported our past events, via the donations for our raffle prize draws.
If the event site allows the event to proceed, at top of mind and without exception will be the safety of attendees and volunteers, so we may implement safety measures such as masks being required to ensure safety for all attendees.
To be clear, if safety measures are implemented, whatever they may be, they will be non-negotiable, without exception and attendees will be required to abide by them. These safety guidelines will be a work in progress and could change depending on state/rate of infections and/or inoculations.
At worst case, if the event site is not able to open the site or if it looks like there is not enough positive change to the rate of infection or inoculation progress, we will have to cancel the event again but we’re going to be optimistic right now. These are uncharted waters and we are trying to navigate as best we can as a volunteer crew. Never did we think we’d have to schedule and organize the event, while considering the health and safety of it’s attendees around a pandemic.
Another update will be provided in May 2021 if not sooner. That’s it for now. Mark the tentative date on your calendars. If you are on Facebook, you can Like the 'GTALx - The Event' page for updates.
Thank you for your time and understanding and here’s a wish to everyone for all the best that the forthcoming holidays have to offer and for 2021. Please stay safe and be well.
