So... are we all snowflakes, worried about rock guards, rock chips, and door dings?

I was at an outdoor mall wiping off a couple of spots from highway driving . I had a spray bottle and micro fiber towel in hand when a crappy Mustang GT passed by, the driver shouting "snowflake!"

A**shole got me thinking about how the vast majority of posts here are about keeping our Hellcats in perfect condiiton. And yet, in all the really badass moives no one gives a rats ass of the cosmetics of their. car In fact, just the opposite. Buillt, Vanishing Point. Gone in 60 Seconds, Constantine, Fast and Furious, and much more trash their cars and look super badass doing it.

^ so true!

Although I have to confess, when I had my silver Ram AIr 442 GTO in the late 60's I don't remember taking much care it. Simple times. I was 18 with gas money, a girl and loud tunes ... and dove the bat shit out of that mean machine. Crazy fun!!!!!! How I miss that car... and those days!!!!!

All? No.

Some are definitely neurotic about a spotless car. And yes, it's all too common on the forum. And it's not a positive personality trait.

There was a topic recently where the thread starter posted a photo and was apologizing to the fourm about road grim on the bottom of the car. Yikes.

As far as movies, nah. I live in the real world, I don't look for meaning in movies.

Oh believe me I can’t stand people who don’t respect other peoples things, intentional or not.

I’ve had people in the car who have pushed the door open with their boot, thus marking the bottom of the interior door panel.

Door slammers, who either don’t use the handle and pick a random spot on the door, or use the thin strip of metal that covers the B pillar.

People (women) who carry their bag in the same hand that they use to open the door. It always slides down your arm and into the door. Or the clutch bag goes against the handle as they extend their fingers to grab the handle.

Letting go of the seatbelt thus letting it fly into the glass, chipping my tint or better yet, getting out not noticing it’s in the jamb and trying to slam the door shut and wondering why it won’t close as the paint chips away with every slam.

I could write a MF’in novel.

Another one is rings and nails scratching the area around door handles! My wife’s Jeep handle is all scratched up

I’m sorry, but my time is very limited. When I have time for my car, I can either A) clean it, or B) drive it. I bought this car to ENJOY it, so I’m driving 9 out of 10 times. Quick once-over with the California Duster, and I’m out. Hell, I’ve even cleaned brake dust off the sides with the duster. I guess as a former bodyman, I guess I just know how far I can go without marking the paint. The 1 out of 10 times I do clean it, it looks as good as the day it came back from getting ceramic.

I do think many are too anal about their cars on this forum but there’s nothing wrong with taking care of and being proud of what you’ve got.

If I see a guy like you busting out quick detailer in a parking lot, my first thought isn’t “snowflake” it’s “wow this guy is really proud of what he’s got and I respect that.”
