So, the service tech comes out and says, "Man, why didn't you get this thing in a manual?

"It's a Redeye."

"What's a Redeye?"

Oh dear.

Bro, why didn’t you change your own oil?

With some of the dealerships horror oil change stories.

Is it over-filled?

There’s no way I’d let them touch my car. knock on wood

I have a dealer 2 miles away and yet drive 1 hour away to a dealer for my service. My local dealer will never see my Redeye

Because this car came with 10 years of free oil changes.

nice. 10 years of damage and scratches being added to your car slowly but surely. Lol. I’m sure they don’t drain your oil cooler and if they do they probably break half of the retaining clips and throw your shit around like garbage.

when I change my oil it’s done in a clean room while I wear a white tux and use velvet gloves…. I also detail the drain bolt, retaining panels, and oil cap.

Poser! Just a clean room? Is it filled with inert Argon gas like mine is. Is your tux made of the finest, natural, analog, microfiber joyously donated by albino, blue-ringed octopi? Only the best virgin silk gloves here, buddy. Detailing??? Hell, I have the Fast and Furious cast steal the actual transport truck that carries the precious original assembly line drain plugs and filler caps destined for the Brampton assembly line.

Amateurs! Ha!

‘Lol….

The most common thing dealerships do is over fill the engine oil. If it’s more than 1/2 quart, that’s not good for the engine. And they never drain the oil cooler on Hellcats.

I drained my oil cooler on the first oil change because there’s probably residual metal shavings in there from break in.

Since I change my oil and filter so often, I don’t think the cooler needs to be drained too after the first change. I’ll drain every 2 or 3 oil changes though.

Yeah, I always check the oil before I leave. Sometimes you get a tech who doesn't know what they're doing, but they generally do a pretty good job here. They drain the cooler, and typically refill it perfectly.

On the plus side, when I got the car back the CEL was on. It's about a 15 mile drive to the dealership, so the car was nice and hot. It got started several times moving it around, checking for leaks and so on and it threw a CEL (sluggish start forced a misfire due to vapor lock or some similar cause). This is common with these cars, as most of us know. But, they took it over to the main service department and had them diagnose it. So, if it happens again, they have record of what's causing it and it might need an adjustment. I have been having random occurrences where the car dumps boost at around 4,000RPM on the dot (basically, the car breaks up a bit). It's extremely random and difficult to reproduce as it does it only 1-2x a month. The service manager thinks it's related. He knows I own a diagnostic scanner and he wants me to data log for a month or so until it breaks up again, then bring it back so they can see if the fuel trims or something needs to be looked at. So, at least the oil change might get the ball rolling on that issue.

I wasn't concerned about it, as I've had similar issues with my 2020 HC. This, however, seems like a minor configuration issue... not the COT thing, and can hopefully be remedied with an update.

Good luck with that issue dude. That kinda sucks on a brand new Hellcat.

It sounds like something minor. Some of these Hellcats have weird problems.

I noticed I have some minor surface rust on the top part where my rear passenger side coil spring goes. No biggie. I’m gonna back it up on my Race Ramps. Clean it up and spray rust inhibitor on it.
‘Surface rust is very common on Dodges. As everyone knows. Especially some parts on the underside. Just catch it early and no worries.
I use a dealer, too. 3 changes for $150? can't beat it. I stay with the car, always the same tech, no brainer. I know, most are crap. But if you have a decent one, why pay more?
I used to take my ‘19 Scat Pack Charger to a dealer for oil changes. They did do an excellent job and let me hang out in the shop while they changed the oil.

The Scat Packs 6.4 have a different oil cooler. It doesn’t have to be drained.

I’m just OCD about my Hellcat.

Are you contractually obligated to use them?

Damn! You don't have the best luck with cars do you? Maybe the tech at the dealership should be afraid to drive your car!

Nah, I could do it myself, but I don't have a problem with letting them change the oil. As I said, my goal with this car is to put 250,000 miles on it. It's not a garage queen. I don't treat it like it either. I take very good care of it, but this girl puts in work.

Well, this issue isn't really an issue. Boosted cars do odd things, especially when heat soaked in Florida heat. I wasn't running the chiller or anything when any of those break-ups happened. The sluggish start thing is just about a common if not EVERY car happenstance for folks who drive in hot climates. They get vapor locked. For example, if I drive across town and stop to get gas, it'll slow start every time. My 2020 HC did the exact same thing.

I only think it threw a code this time because they start/stopped it several times as they moved it around the shop. If it throws a code again, I'll take it in. Whatever it is, it's probably something in the tune or EGR system. The engine itself, unlike my stupid POS C8, is just fine.

FWIW, it's a multi-cylinder misfire code.
