Hello,

I am new to the forums but by no means am I a new Hellcat owner. In 2016 I purchased a 2016 M6 challenger hellcat and had owned a M6 challenger scatpack for a year before that. the Manual hellcat was amazing one of the first mods I did was mid muffler delete and it sounded amazing what I loved the most was the backfire the exhaust would give out. Those pops and crackles were non stop while decelerating. Just a couple months ago I traded her in for a 2019 red hellcat widebody with the auto transmission. I love how faster auto feels but right away noticed the lack of pops from the exhaust. I assumed it needed the mid muffler delete. About two weeks ago I went to my local muffler shop and got the mid muffler deleted only to be disappointed. The exhaust sounds louder but will not backfire (pop & crackle) only time I can get a minor pop or crackle is downshifting on sport mode and when I say minor I mean barely noticeable. I've done some digging in forums and see hellcat owners install the Dyno bullets and Vibrant 1794s to get more crackle but I am wondering if those who get great pop increase from those are Manual owners. I would love to hear from A8 Challenger owners and what they have done to achieve more exhaust pop galore!

I also apologize if this thread is a repeat. I have done tons of reading through older threads but have not found any write ups this specifc.

I would leave it alone. It's not broke and changing it can remove horsepower.

If you just want to throw away $$, send it to me! LOL

Best!

The pops and crackles are more predominant with an M6 over the A8. I had a 2017 HC M6 and loved hearing those with that car. Now I have a 2021 Redeye and can get it to do some in track mode manually downshifting. My car is all stock. This is pretty much A8 life.

It's a function of compression braking. The M6 doesn't decouple off throttle like an automatic does. The torque converter is a hydraulic coupler, and unless the converter clutch is engaged, it will simply slip and free wheel internally. Same principle as coasting to a stop with the clutch in. As opposed to downshifting, clutch out, and letting the load pull everything down helping to create the burbles and pops.

I downshift a lot just for the noise.

But, hey - you have the "quicker" car now. Everything is a compromise.
