Hellcat exhaust front pipe size?

17539 Views 22 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  RadCat
Does anyone here know what the size of the front exhaust pipe is on the Hellcat? I'm planning on having QTP Exhaust Cut Outs installed and need to know the pipe size to order the right part. I spoke with a sales rep from QTP today and was told that they don't catalogue their parts by vehicle type / model. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll post audio clips after I have these installed in the spring.

I want to say it's 2.75". Might search for that great engine article, about Dodge's Paradigm shifting engine. Think that's where I saw it. I know there is a link somewhere here to it but can probably google it faster.
Yep:

Exhaust: dual 2.75-inch exhaust with twin electronic exhaust valves

QTP may not make a 2.75" version? Definitely a 2.5 and 3.0. I'd get the 3.0 and have your muffler shop weld in a 3.0" to 2.75 reducer.
I have those on my 66 chevy hotrod and they are a blast. Any problems with a computer car and not enough back pressure? If not I will put them on mine.
this is what i ordered
Dual Oval Electric Cutout Kit
fits 2.25 - 3.00 inch exhausts.
also ordered the electric wireless remote system to go along with them

that looks nothing like mine made by QTP but mine are over 5 years old. They still work perfect. Mine are for round 3 inch pipe. I have a big cam in my 66 and it really sounds good.
I don't want the low profile cutout...I want the wide open circle...in 3.0". Dumped.

Does the "wide open circle" type hang down further than the "low profile" type? In other words, are there clearance issues underneath with one type v/s the other? Thanks!
It's already loud. My bro said he could hear me starting up from 1/2 block away. Punching it going up on ramps scare the crap outta birds on the wire. Literally.
I agree, it is loud at start up. I just want "something more" for "special occasions"!
You will not be sorry!
Cutouts are way too much fun!
Mine do hang low and bolt to the headers. That may be a problem unless they make a weld in style

Thats why i went with the low profile cutouts. The car is low to the ground. I wouldnt want to get stuck on a speed bump lol

I talked with sales people from Summit racing which handles QTP equipment. I will be calling QTP directly tomorrow. It appears that the Low Profile type of cutout requires use if a plasma torch or a Sawzall to cut out an oval shaped opening into the pipe. I really don't want to do that if something "bolt on" becomes available. There's another cutout which is 2.75" but it's specific for the Boss 302 so it likely wont work either. Hopefully more info tomorrow. The best case scenario would be if the "rumored" MOPAR exhaust dump becomes available soon.

Luckily I have both a plasma cutter and sawzall. Lol. And a TIG to put it all back together. BUT I don't want a "T". At the very least I want a smooth "Y", so that the exhaust still has a smooth flow, no sharp bends or corners. I can't believe the pics on QTP's site for the BOSS version...straight 90 degree angles, wow (first pic below). Why would your exhaust want to make a sharp 90 bend when there is wide open straight in front of it, other than a little back pressure from cats or muffs. I'd venture to say that with the dump open, 70-80 of the exhaust would STILL got out the mufflers.

Making exhaust choose a sharp 90 corner (not EVEN a bend, a sharp corner) over going straight is like trying to herd kittens...Look at this first pic, the exhaust is coming from the front to the back and they expect it to jump out of the side of the pipe?

This is a much better execution of how cutouts should be laid out. These are the oval, low-clearance models too.

Anyone got a good underbelly pic of the HC's exhaust?
the xpipe would be a good place for the ones i ordered i may go through with a similar install. and with the other exhaust the only thing it is doing is adding to the dump sound underneath the car. the 90 degree may free up a few hp with a bit of additional flow but just like the reason i am getting dumps is just to sound more badass and to shake the earth
