Hello All,

So, the time has finally come. The Charger WB HC I had ordered has arrived at the dealership and I go to talk numbers/sign papers tomorrow. One thing the dealer noted that I hadnt heard of was that Doge (the manufacturer) was charging a mark-up on all HC models (they said this was happening even prior to the chip shortage). They said they were going to 'Eat this cost' but, it seems they have padded this somewhere else as the cost before tax/title is about 5k-ish above sticker.

Just wanted to gather your guys' input on this and see if any of you have experienced this? I assume this is one of those, 'is what it is' things in the current market due to such high demand. The dealerships sort of 'drive the car' no pun intended at the moment.

I appreciate the input. Thanks.

Nope, there's no markup other than what the dealer wants to gouge you. Since this isn't a limited run vehicle, I would find another dealer.

Anything over MSRP is not by Dodge, its by the stealership. I personally wouldn't pay over MSRP especially when there are two dealerships on here offering at under MSRP. I wish I had looked on here before ordering mine but I still paid MSRP. As @Blkout said, find a new dealer.

Did your contract not have pricing in it when your ordered the car? Dodge doesn't mark things up, dealerships do. Shouldn't have an ADM on a purchase order car but you may have some dealer extras added in (depending on what you signed) for rip off things like window etching.

It did. Now the price being offered is about 5k above what the order sheet and sticker reflected

The dealers are independent. They pay Dodge a set amount (invoice price) for every car they order. Unless there's some factory rebates, what you end up paying the dealer is strictly between you and them.

That's the reason its called Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. Dealerships can charge whatever they want, just like any store bought goods you buy.

I got a quote for 5% below invoice early September. First thing I did was ask for out the door price in writing. There were no gimmicks there, other than the bullshit $700 dealer fee, but I can eat that. Did you do the same? If you paid a deposit, let them refund you, leave them a bad review on every platform that exists, and order one below invoice. I saved $10k under MSRP.

I got a cost estimate sheet from them at the beginning. But, they (nor any other dealer in my area) was willing to give any sort of gaurantee on pricing until the car was in. I havent negotiated with them yet, so maybe i can talk them down (they may be just throwing the line out there to see if i will bite). But, we will see. Definitely not happy at the moment.

Don't walk but run away from this dealer and tell them to kick rocks!!! If you look hard enough you can find these vehicles at or below MSRP.
I'd have more respect for a dealer that came out and told me that these cars were in high demand and short supply so our asking price is $X (above sticker) than one that made up that nonsense story.

Did you give them any kind of deposit when you ordered? If not, tell them to kick sand and move onto another dealer.
