Just FYI....My dealer is leasing a HC to someone for 4 years. At the end of the lease, the residual value is estimated to be at 61%. Anyone here want to take a chance on this one in 4 yrs?...riddin' hard and put away wet most likely.

thats not bad at all so $38,000 estimated in 4 years i just want it to be 48-52 in a year or so
Not bad at all. When he looked up the lease residual info, we both though that it would be lower...below 50% and we were surprised it was as high...61%...as it was.

So what kind of a payment would that translate to? Never leased so I'm not even sure if it's worth it, cost, etc.
Don't know. I know that they were asking 10K over so that gets added to the mix.I leased a car once...never again. 97' Toy Avalon. 4 yrs. When I went to turn it in, I had someone come out and look at it and she said looks good to her. It had a few blemishes which I say constituted normal wear and tear. Under the mileage limit, etc. Gave them the keys and off I went. 3 weeks later got a bill for $2100 to fix the car. I called them and said, $2100 to fix what? Your person said it looked good and how do I know what happened to it after I dropped it off. Lets do an inspection together. They said car already auctioned off. Never paid them a cent, but they did ding my credit for 7 years. What a scam...I WILL NEVER, EVER lease another car!!

Black... it wasn't me so don't have particulars...just a general conversation with my dealer contact. But we can all imagine what shape it will be in. I would pass on this used HC.

I leased my 300, we did an inspection when I turned it in,, they said it was the cleaned turn in they ever seen...
Thats what I thought the girl and I were doing. Then, after getting the fix bill, they said upon further inspection by "the guys in the back" determined some issues present. If anyone ever does a lease, make sure when you turn it in at the end, that you get all issues signed off on in writing before leaving. Some folks will cave and pay it. Funny thing was is that they asked me..."if you don't want to pay $2100,how much would you be willing to pay? Classic shake down. It was some auto auction place in Mira Loma, CA near the 60 and 15 fwys.

wow sorry this happened to you. They always make it seem like leasing is such a great deal but in reality there's so many "renting with responsibilities" strings tied to it and i'm glad i never lease.

i'm almost pretty sure they weren't able to get much for the auction as they had hoped so they tried to stiff you with some extra fees that werent suppose to be there in the first place. sorry to hear :(

Correct...you are "renting" a car for the leases duration.Fortunately, it is now off my credit report/rating, but it took 7 years from 2001to 2008. Only ding ever on my credit score. Now back to normal, but crap, what a bunch of d!ck$.....

Back in 06 we leased a Fusion for my high school son for 12th grade and college, the SLT Fusion stickered around 22,500 and with 1000 down and payments of 310 x 3 years, it was just right and very non-commital. He only put 8000 miles on it the whole time and when we took it back they offered us the car for 12,000. That is probably the leasing dealer intention in the first place, but at 50% of its sticker as the payoff it was perfect for the graduation gift. Nothing else in my world would ever make me consider leasing, too many risks.
