I'm sure 275 is not the widest tire you can fit in without sticking out... And there is no good excuse (other than business dealings) to install these crappy Pirellis. You don't have to go with wider tires to noticeably improve performance: PS4S in 275/40 would do it, but they had to use Pirellis it seems...

that's a 305. as you can see it doesn't stick outside the fender at all.

what you read is nonsense. Dodge used a 275 because they ran a 275 up front, wanted to save costs on stocking 2 different tire sizes and let the older owners rotate their tires like they love to do. that or they had a deal with Pirelli, same way Ford did with the Goodyear eagle f1 supercar tires that are utter junk.

Only good tire on a stock car is the S550 pp1 or pp2 cars coming with Michelin PS4 or sport cup 2s.

I think they did it so the car would have less traction, making it easier to do massively smoking tire melting burnouts so the car magazine guys would help them market the car.
