I have a 21 charger hellcat widebody. I was thinking about trading up to a redeye widebody charger. The main question I have is......if I pulley and tune both cars on 93 pump gas. Will the ending hp numbers be pretty much the same. I did research and this is what I came up with.

The regular hellcat boost is about 11 psi from factory with the 2.4l blower. A pulley can make it a safe on pump gas 15 psi. This is max safe psi on 93 gas. Of course injectors etc. I have seenthis make up to 780 whp from hhp website.

I heard the redeye has a 2.7l blower already running at about 14 to 15 psi. There is not a lot of room to spin the blower faster on pump gas. Whatever you could do on the redeye that's safe for 93........would it beach different than a pullied and tuned regular hellcat.

I know the redeye has a demon top end yad yada yada.. I would upgrade the driveshaft on my regular hellcat....diff brace and if needed rear axels. The redeye may have stronger internals but the regular hellcat has not proved to need them with pulley and tune. Upgraded motor on redeye ? Yes ..... needed for extra power nit really? I even read that the 2.4 blower handles more speed better than the 2.7.

So the main question is after tuning and pulley on 93 gas for both the redeye and hellcat. Is there much if a difference in performance?

If your goal is less than 900whp, I'm of the mind that the HC is the cheaper option. To do that with a Redeye, you need an aftermarket blower, or at the least, a rebuilt modified stock unit. The Redeye has more kit for making big power... like 1,000-1,300 on its internal architecture. But, as you mentioned, it has a blower problem and fixing that costs a LOT of money. 20 grand or so to get something like a Magnusson or Whipple with all the installation and peripheral mods needed. You can definitely get there cheaper on a HC platform, but it won't have the durability of the Redeye.

Thus, if your goal is less than 900whp, I would just go with the HC. If you have aspirations of building big, then the Redeye is your ticket. Neither option is going to be cheap by any means, but adding an aftermarket power adder to the Redeye is mucho dinero. IMO, if someone is going to mod a Redeye, they should just go ahead and go all out, as it isn't economically feasible to half ass it.

What's the most who can you get without going broke and maximizing the factory components on 93 pump gas with reliability? I dont want to go crazy but just have fun. If 800 wheel is the answer without turning it into a money pit. 800 it is.

I just want the best bang for my buck on 93 pump gas. Not trying to spend 20k. And would keep the stock blower on both. Pretty much if the most you can safely get on 93 pump gas without changing much other than pulley and fuel delivery is maxed out at about the same hp on both the hellcat and redeye I'll keep the hellcat. Even if I was to get the redeye I would only want to get the most out of the stock components like pulley and fuel delivery upgrade. I wouldn't change the blower or anything. It's my daily driver I don't want to do too much causing issues but would like to take advantage of the platform reliably and cost effective.

I will try to get a 23 redeye regardless but want to know how hard I should try and how much I would spend cause it's getting crazy for these cars.

I guess what I'm getting at is the hellcat has more to gain and can match the redeye when it comes to the most power with stock components safely on 93 pump gas.

Most power with stock components Safely..Reliable on 93 pump gas for redeye and hellcat. How much difference without changing blowers.

This is my daily driver not a weekend toy u need reliability and bit something I'm constantly having to fiddle with.

So if I'm staying in the max safe range for either car with stock components on 93 pump gas, it would make more sense to just mod my car because safe range upgrades for redeye and hellcat on 93 with stock blower will be about the same?

110-120k. I fully expect that to be the average range for a '23 with any sort of options. Special editions likely in the 130-150k range.

If that's true I'm definitely staying with what I have. If I can at least get redeye msrp of 8xk I'm in. I don't add a lot of options. The regular redeye they took all the options away anyway lol. I'll spec it out the way I want it aftermarket instead of paying Inflated proces for a jailbreak when it's pretty much the same car.

There has been word the 2.4L blower on the regular Hellcat is more robust than the 2.7L but the 2.7L is pretty stout and will handle some mild mods that you’re most likely looking to do. It doesn’t seem like you want to do anything crazy but to just mainly experience the HC platform itself with something small like upgrading the pulley and having the car tuned, etc. while keeping the car simple/reliable.

Sure you can pulley, tune, and upgrade injectors on the regular Hellcat for less than the cost of a Redeye but it doesn’t stop there. With the regular Hellcat you also have to be concerned about strengthening the drive line, like getting an aftermarket driveshaft since none of us seem to really know if the stock driveshafts have really gotten all that much stronger since the previous 2015/2016 models and plus the one piece drive shafts are on back order which is a P.I.T.A to begin with.

Not only that but getting an aftermarket 1 piece shaft may possibly cause vibration issues and with the Redeye's two piece stock shaft you don't have to worry about that and from what I heard it's able to accommodate up north of 1K HP while running low 9's on the stock DS with no issues.

You also mentioned about possibly upgrading the axles in which you may possibly have too on the regular Hellcat as well. The Redeye’s driveshaft and axles are all definitely stronger than the regular Hellcat and no need to upgrade.

The Redeye also has better cooling efficiency with the interchiller which you would really appreciate. The regular Hellcat doesn’t and may be wise to add some cooling mods depending on how far in mods you go with it.

A lot of folks think it’s simply cheaper to just throw a few grand at a regular Hellcat with a pulley, tune, injectors but no, add another few more grand for upgrading the driveshaft, axles, cooling mods, etc. Differential brace is pretty much a given on any Hellcat platform and should be added anyway but before you mod the the regular Hellcat you have to spend quite a bit of research on other things to upgrade the car before modding it. The Redeye’s platform simply has it all out of the box for you to start modding it without the headache of upgrading other stuff as you would on the regular HC.

If you are planning on choosing either the regular Hellcat platform or Redeye to mod to begin with, then go with the Redeye platform if you can afford it and make do with that. This is not to put down the regular Hellcat in anyway as I have a regular 717 Cat but it’s just nice and reassuring that the Redeye has the upgraded goodies already there for you that you would most likely have to upgrade on the Regular Hellcat.

True...all I can do is hope that I can get one. I have the 21 charger hellcat 717 now. Looking to go out with a bang woth a last year redeye. If I can do it I will. If they start scamming with money grabs I'm out and will keep what I have. Thanks.

Yea I'm going to try and get a redeye charger. If it's not possible without being raped then I'm still cool. At least I have a hellcat platform which is the biggest must have. I'll pulley tune cat delete to turn of cat tem protection diff brace drivshaft maybe extra cooling for SC and drag radial. Call it a day. 2026 Gt500 when I pay this off lol.

For those that have a standard (707, 717) Hellcat already and especially being payed off then stick with that and make do with it as you can't go wrong with a regular Hellcat.

Redeye is a good upgrade but most of us have regular Hellcats with a lot of time and money invested in it so the upgrade may not be worth if it hurts you financially. If the desire to upgrade to the Redeye is there and you can wing it especially for a good price then go for it but if there asking stupid prices for them then it's better to save what you have.

You could still do upgrades to a regular Hellcat for cheaper than the cost of a Redeye.

Agreed thanks. With all this hype and money grabbing with limited edition with limited numbers with stickers and cool names, I'm starting to get over dodge. I'm looking forward to a new mustang next.

Dam tune only. It appears that the regular hellcat was just de tuned a lot and had potential for a lot more. Then it appears that the used up all that detune and tuned it up for the redeye leaving not as much to gain from things like just a tune cause they git closer to maxing everything out. I know it's supposed to have better Internals yad yada bjt I have yet to hear about the regular hellcat blowing up cause the internals were not good enough on pulley 15 psi and tune Injectors which is all I want to do.. I would do the same thing to a redeye if inhad one and am starting to believe in my own mind that pulley tune Injectors 93 pump gas on the hellcat vs redye........ the hellcat have way more to gain.......the redye does not and they both max out about the same on stock components 93 pump gas. The redye blower is already spinning at max safe psi 14 to 15 on 93 pump gas. I would say on 93 pump gas the regular hellcat may be the bargain.

Well I wouldnt go that far. Before the RE guys get their tits all twisted, lets say this. The Redeye has far more potential than a normal HC out of the box. Notice I said against a stock RE. If you do the same tune only to the RE, it would probably make more and will have far more blower and fuel system headroom than the normal HC. You would need dual pumps and to spin that 2.4 blower harder to keep up with the RE once the mod gloves come off. But if you are willing to cancel your warranty, then against a stock RE you can make as much if not more power with a tune only. Until the RE guy does the same. To be clear...

Now with all that being said, if it were me I would do a narrow body challenger RE and basically do a tune only E85 setup. Leave all the rest alone. You'll have a 9second car with 800hp with tune only E on a narrow (or wb) redeye challenger on a tire. No better bang for your buck. And thats saying something now that I currently own a 21 ZL1 with a maggie 2650.

Isn't the redye blower pretty much maxed out to be safe and reliable on 93 pump gas tho at about 14 to 15 psi? If 15 psi is the safe zone for both the redeye and hellcat on 93 pump gas, then the mods I would do wouldn't even safe and reliably work on the redye pulley tune Injectors etc. On 93 Because I won't go E85 or E anything 93 only. This is just info I have gathered from reading posts.
