Hello everyone

My name is George, from Maine. I’m looking at purchasing a 2023 charger Hellcat once I know what the special editions are for the last year. I like the sublime green color myself. I have always liked bright. I’m very excited. I have owned many dodge vehicles, three chargers over the years. This will be my summertime, midlife crisis toy lol. I’m trying to get a head start on ideas, mods etc. i’m more concerned with keeping a car clean, shiny the paint protected etc. I don’t plan on doing any major motor or drivetrain or suspension upgrades. I do plan on having the windows tinted and I would like to do a cold air intake. Also if it’s smart to have one, a oil catch can. So I’m curious why the consensus is on a oil catch can, a cold air intake, and the best product to use to protect the outside of my car. Even the inside of my car.
I’m excited to be here and I look forward to learning much more.

Thank you everyone.

You haven't said if you plan to keep it.

Are you buying or leasing?

These cars don't need any mods... period! The one's you mention can void your warranty and don't really add anything.

Just drive the car and take care of it.

I’m buying, gonna keep it.
budget? Varies, when I can afford somthing I’d buy it. the car is pricey enough lol.
I was looking what to put on the exterior to really help protect it from the elements, bugs etc.

So the CAI and oil catch can are pointless?
Jw, I’ve had a CAI on my other chargers, that’s why I asked.
Thank you all.

Welcome,

As always, tires are #1 performance enhancer, CAI and catch can are down the list for improving performance, I believe the Pre-Stage or Stage I kit comes with a replacement for the stock air filter, they are actually supposed to be rolling those out now but so far no one has said they've had one installed. Most here would advise against modifying the car for two reasons; 1) It gives Dodge excuse to void the warranty and these cars have manufacturing issues so better make sure there are no issues before you start toying with it. The 2nd one is future value, all original low millage HC's will skyrocket in value over time, the more millage and modifications, even upgrade to 3.0 SC, will lower the value, unless you are selling to someone who knows the car most will be wary of a vehicle that's been modified and if you follow the collector car market you can see that much lesser models in original condition will out sell higher end models that have been modified. Take two identical 64' Barracudas with the 273 CI engines left in some cave for 50 years and swap a Hellaphant in one, the car with the original parts will go for way more.

Rock Guards
Theft deterrent system(s) - Hopefully you have a garage.
PPF or Ceramic or good ole fashion waxing depending on where you're keeping and how often you drive.

Tires are the only performance mod really needed unless you plan on racing it. That's a whole notha ball o wax.

Welcome and Good Luck finding what you want without remortgaging your house!

Welcome and good luck with your search. As others have stated best to leave totally stock. Adding some bling that can be easily removed is not an issue. If you start touching the power train you are going to get zero return and turn off potential buyers.

Awesome thanks guys. Stock it is. Besides rock guardsmaybe a vinyl or two and try to protect the paint, shine, make it easier to clean etc.

I do have a garage. Will only be used in the nice seasons, not winter. Will have a car cover.

is it that easy to steal these cars? Do they get parted out? Not much at all of that around here where I am.

:ROFLMAO: You're funny

For the type of car it is, it's absurdly easy, compared to a 1992 Chevrolet 1500 pick up... a little harder. Go read some of the threads on it and the updated security features and their recalls. Be prepared to have your car stolen it's a bigger target and easily choppable, engine & SC alone make it worth stealing. Many here will 'SMH' if you don't have a garage, one guy has decided to sell his as he thinks it's too risky to own. Being in Maine I would assume you have an enclosed garage and will store in winter! Also Maine isn't really known for an absurd crime rate so probably less of a worry for you but you need to be aware, it's not hype. There is a thread now dedicated to it if you want something else to stress over. I don't go to the movies in mine if that is any indication.

Well here, it’s VERY safe compared to big cities, more popular states etc.

The cars security features don’t help prevent theft? I do have a garage and cameras. Around here people don’t even lock there doors.

What does insurance do in the case your car is stolen? They come good for it? Sorry if I sound nieve, never had to think about this before.

Sure you get a payout, but supply/demand premium on a replacement will also factor in hard with 2023 being the last model year.

Hi George,

I am in NH and maybe can put some things in perspective.

1. Most stolen cars are "targeted". If you keep it in your locked barn in MooseHead, ME, and you have 1/2 mile long driveway (like me) and you live on a remote road, no one will ever know it is there. Nobody steals something they do not know exists. Besides, there is what, 8 guns in ME for every resident? And your tractor is more a target than the HC. And you know that your tractor is stolen by someone who knew you had it and where you kept it..

2. I hope you realize that the 23's will mostly horribly overpriced $pecial Edition$. You will be paying full price plus.

3. Catch can is pure personal preference, CAI is unnecessary in 2019+.

4. Protective film is expensive, PITA, and a good way to preserve the car for the jerk that buys it from your widow. I put PPF on the rear of the wheel openings only. Unless you completely cover your car, the rocks will eventually find the unprotected spots. Just do the minimum and drive it and be happy.

5. Buy a RE and all the mods you need are already there. Maybe tires (and rear wheels if a NB). Keep the warranty intact, the car will cost $100k, why would anyone throw away the warranty.

Awesome. I agree with everything you said. Brings a lot into perspective. Thank you!
