I'm currently in the process of adding a bit more boost to my stock 2016 Charger HC. After much research here on the forums, I've decided to go with the following setup:

2.85 upper
10% lower
injectors
tune

However, I'm trying to get some feedback regarding the Hellraiser clutched pulley vs. the standard Metco. For the extra $ I'm not really seeing the added benefits of getting the Hellraiser. So any feedback that anyone can provide would be
greatly appreciated.

Just to note, I'm not a drag strip guy at all. Only looking to have a bit more "pep" beyond stock. Lots of Cats popping up in my local area these days, and want to have a bit more daily driving power/fun on pump gas.

Many thanks!

I had done a search not too long ago to see if there’s a Clutched pulley list.
I didn’t find a central thread.
Yeah, I'd also be interested to see a list of options as well. Seems to be differing opinions across the board. For me, I'm quite comfortable going with the 2.85 Metco upper pulley. I was just curious to hear if any others had better results with the clutched pulley. Many thanks!

For me. Clutched hellraiser is worth it. Less rotational stress on crank snout.
Yeah, that definitely makes sense and I can see why many seem to take this route as a precaution. And just to ask you, would it also be advisable to upgrade to a 3.09 gear, or could the stock diff handle the extra power well enough on its own? Thanks!

That I'm aware of, only Litens offers clutched pulleys, they have at least these sizes:
3.35 (stock)
3.17
2.85
2.72
2.56

If you go non-clutched there's a lot more size options available--but IMO non-clutched is going to put a lot of extra strain on everything. You either chew up belts or tighten them so much you risk wearing out bearings.

Many thanks for the feedback. Very much appreciated. Yeah, I'm starting to see the wisdom of going with a clutched system. Especially in my case - as I'm looking for both a bit of street fun and longevity. Now, I'm just curious about the need for a 3.09 gear upgrade. But even so, I'm sure I won't upgrade the gear right away. Probably best to try out the pulley, injector and tune setup first and go from there.

I don't know of any other vendor making them for the HC IHI.
ATI makes clutched SC pulleys, maybe you could get them to make one that fits.
There could be others.
Yeah, I'm sure there are some other options, but don't think I'd trust going that route. The Litens Hellraiser is well proven. Thanks again for the feedback!

And what if say I want a Clutched pulley, not from Litens?
Just wanted to inform you that I found another shop that sells clutched pulleys. And most importantly, they've also created an "interchangable" clutched system similar to Metco. Definitely check them out if you're still interested:

Yes, Satera seems to be highly praised here on the forum. I'm considering using their quick-change system as well. Other than a Ripatuned Incognito lower and ECM/TCM tune, I'm still relatively stock. Looking to swap to a 2.95 upper and bigger injectors in the near future. However, my remote tuner (Dusterhoff) saw some fueling issues in my logs which he believed to be from the fueling differences over here in Dubai. So, I'm also considering a Flex Fuel tune and mixing some E99 in the tank for improved performance. How about yourself? Have you started on your mods yet?

Im running a 2.75 Metco w/10% lower. No issues. It saw the strip 3x before the track closed down and while its not my daily, I blip around town in it when the weathers nice. The work was in Feb/Mar '22.

As far as the 3.09, I dont think its stronger than the 2.62 just larger gearing. Youll get more torque and quicker (if you can hook) off the line but you'll also lose top end speed.

Get yourself a P4D diff brace regardless. Also get a new driveshaft, although this may not be necessary if you NEVER drag race with DRs on a prepped surface.

I'm planning to stay on pump gas, so your setup would be a bit too much boost for my build. But it's good to hear that combo is working well for you. What fuel are running and what size injectors? Just curious. Thanks!

"Planning" lol famous last words.
I was just saying 2.85 is even less stress then the 2.75 so youre safe.

Running E85 fulltime w/FIC 1200s.

Yes, always "planning" LOL. From my tuners advice, I'm actually going with the 2.95 to ensure that I stay within safe boost limits. I'd love to have as many pump-gas ponies as possible, but definitely not at the expense of risking reliability. These cars are absolutely amazing and I'd like to keep mine for a while :) Keep enjoying, Bro!
