You need to be very demanding. First of all, dodge paint compared to most is horrific at best. My Ford F 250 would chip for anything but throw a pebble at a dodge and you have a chip. I’d demand a new painted hood.

I'd see about touching it up myself first. Let the dealer paint the hood? That would be the last option for me.

Why take it back to the dealer? If you were too cheap to protect your investment with a clear film, its all your fault. Sucks but now you have to live with it.

R.K.
Because if its rubbing against the scoop insert (Which mine does as well) its not the owners fault its dodges. So they should fix it. Maybe try not being a d**k to people in the future.

I have done enough body work and fixed enough bad work to say, If I had to guess the first car is white maybe silver hard to tell from the pic, and the second car is yellow my guess both have graphics, because I find it hard to belive the factory repaints the hood to make it black. but I am pretty sure the upfitter does.
Either way the proplem is the prep before the application of the black paint, the edge was not sanded enough to get good adhesion. It is very common for improperly sanded edges to chip/ lift easily, especially with a plastic part against it that flexes independently and can there fore "pic" at the edge.
The only real fix is to remove the plastic sand off the black really sand the under colored paint and repaint the black. Other than that it will keep chipping like an 70's- 80's cheap repaint job that lifts at the jambs edges ect. because they did not prep the edges well.

It was believed the Upfiter does the whole package. Dodge does it if only the hood was being done
Only hood. My undersranding is hood done at factory. It is obvious a factory issue. I meet a Dodge guy at the Gatornationals and he said I should have no warranty. Issues. I will get the car in this week. Fingers crossed.

That's what I was trying to see, if both of yours are the hood only, then done at dodge. I was curious to find out which did a bad prep job....

Damn I knew the upfitter repainted the hood top and deck, I cannot belive they paint the hood body color only to repaint it black at the factory but anything it posible. But obviously that is what they do, the only problem is someone does not know how to use scotch brite on the edges......

So now I have a question is the bottom of the hood body color or black???
I ask to get an idea if they paint it on the car or off.
