I put a deposit down on a Hellcat on Oct. 6, 2014. It seemed as though the order wasn't going anywhere, so, I put money down on 1 in Detroit, that Kevin had mentioned. Now the original dealer says I can't get my deposit back until they sell the car(actually looking at my paper work, I don't think it's a certified contract). I called Broward County Consumer Affairs - which didn't go too far - they're mailing me some paper work. Then I called SRT and they said they couldn't help because it was an order issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Take a look at these two threads, look like similar issues.

Notice a common theme? You also started these threads..........was the advise not good enough? They can't keep your deposit, end of. Drive to the dealership, sit down with the GM and get your money.

Owenspackman if the dealer says I don't get my deposit back until they sell the car to someone else, is there some legal ground I can quote, for getting it back.
Zebug I told him the vin was issued in it's entirety and he gave me another vin last Wed and I just checked it and they said it was too new.

If they keep it at msrp, I'm sure they can sell it. That's why I don't know why they won't give me my money back.
What a crock of crap.

Tell them to give you your deposit now or you will lawyer up and make them miserable. Also call the local news. There is always some consumer advocate bulldog looking to make a name for them. They will drag them through the mud on TV.

Better yet, say give me my deposit back now or I'll wait but you have to give me 1/2 of the ADM you charge LOL.

if your order got picked up and flipped to a VIN, he may be able to keep your cash till it sells. Check you state laws

I have to agree with abe,, they have a sold order with your name on it,, you may start asking around to see if you can get someone to reimburse you for your deposit, that wants your car you ordered

First Thing you need to do is ask for the POC that is printed from "DEALER CONNECT"..........That is the proof that the said order has gone from VON to VIN.......And that will show what status it is.........If it is in "D" they can still cancel the order with no issues.........When it hits "D1" it is to late and all over but the crying....
But they should have no issues and would not cancel the order any way because if you don't buy it, someone else will........The Hellcats are the most sought after cars in the US Right Now............
And if they can not provide the information to you, you might have to get tough.........They are "SCUM BAG CAR DEALERS" and you have to show them who is in control........And if you need assistance feel free to PM your dealers information.......I love nothing more than "KICKING A CAR DEALER".........:D

Some dealers do state that once the car goes VIN, the deposit is non-refundable. Several have held to this position. But I agree, they should refund, especially for a HC that will surely be sold quickly. Make sure you are speaking to someone at the top of the dealers food chain...Owner/GM

Shasta's Dad, You beat to that one in Detroit. If you actually have a VIN, and it's a Sublime A8 Laguna with NAV and they'll sell it to me at near MSRP, I'll work with you to transition that order to me.

I'm gonna ask for the POC(Civil Eng. suggestion - think early on somebody else mentioned it - can't remember). Will be interesting to see how they answer that.
Mopar1, thanks for the offer. I'm kinda torn between the 2 cars. The 1 in Ft. Laud. doesn't have the Laguna( a friend, with a Viper says it's really nice - now I want it). It doesn't have Nav either - my choice, I grew up with Rand McNally. The 1 in Detroit is 1K over msrp. I'll see how things go.
