Are hood pins really necessary? I’ve been looking at them and they look cool but I’m not sure about drilling into my hood. Aside from the “cool” and “retro” aspect of them what is everyone’s opinion on them? Good? Bad? Worthless?

I like mine but just cool unless you severely mod.
We’re yours factory or did you install them? If so how difficult would you say it was?

I have seen cars going way faster than your normal hellcat in any trim blow off a hood. that is the purpose but unless your silly fast they are for looks.
No, just for looks. Gives it more of a retro look which is why I ordered them.

Modern hood latches and safety catches have made hood pins really unnecessary for more than 40 years. But if you have a lightweight aftermarket hood (like a CF hood) it's probably a good idea to install the pins.

If they were necessary every car would have them. They are purely decorative. If you want the then install them. If you don't like/want them then don't.

I believe if you have a lift off hood then it has to be pinned, if it's hinged then it doesn't require them. I think there was a NHRA class that required hood pins. Hood pins are a hold over from the 70's that are basically aesthetic options now, maybe with Carbon fiber or fiberglass hoods they are required?
We suggest hood pins with our ram air hood carbon or fiberglass, just as a safety precaution. For your OEM stock hood its really just for looks. The install is not too hard, you just need to mark your drill spots and take your time.
