I got some Permatex High Tack, I hear it's good for getting your slicks to stick to the rim if you're experiencing rim spin.
Anybody have any experience with this?
Any help on the application would be appreciated!
Do you glue the rims only?
Do you glue the tire bead and the rim?

Cleaning that off engine parts is a PIA so a wheel and tire would be worse. And no never heard of it you screw them in which ain't happening on my new 18 inch wheels

Mark the tire and wheel and make some pass's before doing this, I doubt at this level you will need to, just make sure the wheel lip and tire are clean and dry when mounting them up.

if you want the tires to stick like glue to the bead we always mounted the slicks at the track with gumout just spray the tire bead real good mount them and they will stick like you vulcanized them to the rims. try it it works, and you can still get them apart. been doing it for years.BAM

I needed to get mine glued. My mark went almost all the way around at LXBN last year @18 psi. Once they were glued they moved less than in inch with over 80 runs.

I tried 3M trim adhesive and it broke loose. Tires broke loose and move 3" each session.Going to use a chisel to score the wheel bead area and try Permatex Hi Tak. DON'T PUT SCREWS IN THEM

Just do what I do. Balance the wheel with TPMS/Valve stem by it's self. Then mount the tire and add NO more weight. The balancer actually has a setting for this. That way the tire can move around and it will not be an issue. Believe it or not I had some 305/45R18 Nitto NT555R's and I had him check after the initial balance of the bare wheel.......after mounting the tires it was only asking for another 1/4 Oz! Mickey Thompson ET Street "R" in the same size, no issues.

I am having zero issues with this setup.

No way would I goop up the beads with anything that would need to be cleaned off next time......Do you really think your tire guy is going to clean that off, and even if he does, will he do a good job?

Question is as the tire slips how does it effect the 60 ft

I actually think the tire slipping might help your 60 foot in some cases. By absorbing energy and keeping you from breaking loose. On a really well prepped track you will do better if it does not slip and if you run a higher pressure and stiffer sidewall. It would be very difficult to determine if it is helping or hurting. We are only talking about a few degrees of rotation. I would not lose any sleep over it.

Again it depends onhow bad its slipping. My mark went all the way around with just a few runs until I glued. 100th of a second maybe. Would be hard to prove out though

Permatex High Tack.. I've had great success using hair spray and you can use water to remove should the need occur . use it as bead lube then let them sit 24 hrs to set... while I have never done it I think a heat gun would speed up the set time.

Okay. I need clarification. Are you using hairspray to make the bead stick to the wheel? I'm getting full rotation on my M/T Drag radials, but the tire guy used a lubricant to seat the tires. I'll be pulling them and cleaning everything up. I really don't want wheel slip here. I can't get below 1.7's 60 foots and it's making my angry. Other than that, the car is dead consistent.
