Guys…I’m going to be picking up my 17th challenger in a few days. I have to say I have learned a few things in my time with ordering Mopar stuff and decided to see if what I suspected was true. I ordered my first Hellcat on day 1 back in 2014 (Sept 9th if I remember right) and it arrived December 4th. I ordered my Demon in June 2017 and it arrived in December. (this was the record for how long I ever waited for an order until about a year ago…yes it actually got beat!), I ordered my 1320 in Nov 2018 and it showed up March 2019, and the winner of waiting was my TRX that I ordered August 2020 and it didn’t show up until March of this year….an absolute crock of shit by my standards. Especially when there were people ordering in November and taking delivery in January. I bitched…sure…but I also paid attention.
Too keep things short;
1.) Stick with a dealer that moves inventory. A lot of inventory. They get preferential treatment from Dodge. Trust me.
2.) Unless you are one of the guys who HAS to have all the options, only order the options you want. Every option you want has the potential to hold your order up due to some kind of shortage.
3.) Try to go with a dealer physically close to the plant and don’t be afraid to travel. The time spent on a train is pain-staking.
For me, there is only one option I want and that’s 700+ hp. (And an auto trans in this case).
I went with Dan Cummins in Kentucky, and my only option was auto trans. It took 21 days from order to sitting at the dealer. And under invoice to boot! Jake is the man.
