It was the coldest day to date here on Long Island this morning (since I've had this beast) and I noticed although my Engine Temp climbed rather quickly to 200° the oil and transmission don't move much after even 10 minutes of highway driving.

What temp should they be at before I get into her?

Thanks

10 minutes is not very long. Everything should be at normal operating temp including trans. Everything expands to operating dimensions which includes fluids, parts and clearances. Colder parts can be more brittle than warmed ones. Why would you go full throttle, red line on a cold motor, SC & trans unless you want to grenade.

Is idling until 175 ok then?
NO!

Idling is hard on a motor & accelerates wear due to inadequate lubrication. Oil pressure is halved at idle. And there are many internal engine components lubricated by crankshaft oil castoff & then there are the oil nozzles aimed at the pistons.

Start the engine & drive off easily until operating temp.

Factory tune the car will limit available torque until the magic number of 176°F for engine oil temp. Engine coolant temp is also 176°F but that limit is only activated with ambient temp is 36°F or below. I usually like my EOT a tick warmer before I hammer on it though.

Thanks for all the responses.

I will say that it feels super strong in the 40° air this morning. This thing likes that cold air.

Would take a long time to reach that temp idling in the cold. Idling an engine is what kills it. Drive it until it’s up to temp, then go ham
That has proved to 100% false, at least with my fleet cars. Those sit and idle all day long every day. Not one issue with them doing that either, except for the heat in the summer time.

prove that...I don't think you can. I go by maintenance on a 300+ car fleet which just about everyone of them sit and idle about all day.
