I'm a longtime Mopar guy (like from back in the 1970's.) My second car in high school was a 1970 Plymouth Superbird. This was back when they were just an ugly used car that nobody wanted. I have had a multitude of Mopars over the decades including a real 1971 hemicuda ragtop (yellow and white) and several 440+6 'cuda ragtops. (This was back when they were...wait for it...four figure $ cars, not seven figure ones now). The running joke in my family is that I have sold more million dollar cars long before they were worth a million dollars, than any other person on the planet - it's a curse but I deal with it.

I currently have a 1970 Cuda 340, 4-speed. It's an original 1 of around 12 or so factory produced, shaker hood cars. It's in its original color of FC7 In Violet metallic. I restored it during the first year of the qurantine lockdown since I needed a reason to hang out by myself in the garage. :).

One of my other Mopars is the original 1993 Mopar Muscle Magazine Project Pit Viper magazine car from back in 1993 when I was tech editor at Mopar Muscle Magazine and Musclecar Review. It was featured for two years of tech articles and had a lot of backdoor help from Team Viper back in the day. I even got to document it being built on the assembly line in January 1993.

We have a '14 Charger AWD as a daily driver that just celebrated it's 100,000 mile mark. A milestone my wife still can't comprehend the importance of, but that's another battle for another day, though I did steal the car from her on Tuesday just so I could take a picture of the odometer flipping to from 99,999 to 100,000.

Anyway, I am looking for a used Plum Crazy Hellcat Challenger to probably replace the '70 'cuda in the near future. Stick or auto, but no sunroof and no black out hood. I love Plum Crazy but hate the new Prune-Sanity color (hellraisen) otherwise I'd would order a 2022. My ultimate dream choice would be Plum Crazy with a red interior but I imagine that's insanely rare.

So If anyone has any leads, please drop me a message.

Here's some photos and some links to my other threads.

And the old Viper: NJ Steves Pit Viper Revival - The Supercar Registry

Still in it's racing livery. I used to race it at our home track of Sebring International in the early 1990's. It held a lap record for a season before I retired it in 1997 or so with 8,000 "Sunday-only" miles on it.

This was my high school parking lot in 1979. See if you can guess which car is mine.

And the 1971 Hemicuda convertible. When I bought it during a blizzard in Wisconsin in 1985 and at the Mopar Nats in 1987 after I finished restoring it. In late 1987 Otis Chandler bought it from me for his collection and the price kept tripling with each subsequent sale since then.

Man your cars are AWESOME!!! Are you SURE you want to part with that 70?!
Also, I ordered my dream car in September. Hellcat Widebody in Hellraisin with Demonic Red Laguna. It’s NICE in person. The thing I like about Hellraisin is it changes so much dependent on the light. It looks black at night. Get it in bright direct sunlight though and it’s a beautiful metallic purple. Not as in your face as Plum Crazy for sure, but its a very mean looking color. I’ve gotten nothing but compliments on it, even from people who, before seeing it, did,T think they’d like the combo. I wanted something different so I went that direction. Glad I did. The Laguna leather is extremely nice. Also think Hellraisin would look fantastic with the new Hammerhead grey interior. Anyway, just had to comment on your rides. Good luck with your search for a Plum Crazy!

And that ‘71 convertible. There are no words. Is your name Nash Bridges?
Ugh! When they were originally developing that TV they wanted to borrow the 71 hemicuda ragtop to use it for the show. They had no concept whatsoever of how rare/valuable/irreplaceable it was (one of 7 produced for US sales) and they thought they could just stupidly offer to borrow it and not provide any type of insurance or payment... yada yada yada. They actually thought that the "exposure" it would get would be more than enough reward from loaning the car out to get destroyed by a TV crew. It had already been in every muscle car magazine on the face of the earth at the time. In the end, they ended up just duplicating it for the show. The same thing happened with my 440+6 4-speed ragtop. One of 5 produced. Another TV show called about that one and offered to just "pick it up and return it in a couple weeks" after they were done with it. When I laughed and said "No, you pay me $XXX by the hour to provide the car and I stay with it and you put up $XXXXXX in escrow for any damage that occurs, under my sole approval for release" they were flabberghasted that I would even suggest that they have pay to use my worthless car. I said "Well you called me." And I laughed out loud and then went back to my vacationing. Inconceivable!

Here's the 71 440+6 ragtop before and after:

And this was my favorite: 1971 'cuda 440+6 automatic ragtop. One of 12. Scariest Mopar I ever owned. Untouched drivetrain with a Torqueflite automatic and 4.10 Dana rear. There is something about a car with an engine that has never been touched since day one. It ran like stink on Cam2 110 octane gas. I bought it in unrestored original condition and drove it for a year and then sold it to the late Steven Juliano in 1988. He then performed an insane "coffee table" restoration and he never put more than 50 more miles on it than from when I sold it to him. I sold it to him with only 19,000 miles on it. It has 21,000 on it now, 34 years and several owners later. Here it is when I found it, and just a couple weeks ago when it was for sale at Mecum a few weeks ago. (after selling in 2019 at Mecum for $1,155,000)

Yeah I'm probably ready. I get more of a thrill from the build process than from the finished car so I am ready to move to the next endeavor. It's like a jigsaw puzzle. What do you do with it once it's done? I restored the car to "Day 2" condition with a set of 1969 Motor Wheel Spyder mag wheels, a 1972 Mopar column mounted tachometer and a vintage 1973 Sanyo AM/FM Cassette deck with 6x9 Kraco speakers. When you put that Meatloaf: Bat Out Of Hell cassette in, the sound that comes out of those K-Mart speakers is like turning on a time machine: it really brings back the memories of high school days.

Haha are you serious!? Yeah I had to throw that Nash Bridges dig haha. There is NO DAMN WAY I’d let a tv or movie production have one of mine, so I can’t imagine what you thought when they came asking about that Hemicuda convertible! Faaaast NO…
