So I'm debating on getting hp tuners or Diablo. for hp tuners do I have to buy a credit every time I change a tune? For instance if I'm going to the gas station to fill up on e85 and switch to my e85 tune from 93 tune do I have to use a credit. Then anther credit when I decide to switch back? Or only the first time I write an engine tune. And again if I write a trans tune?

Credits are assigned to the VIN when you first go to write the PCM or TCM. TCM needs 4 credits and PCM needs 2. Then you can write at will after that. No more credits needed after that. But the tune will also be assigned to your VIN and you need to be connected to the internet to write it to your car. Not sure how this will work if you do your own tuning. Maybe when you edit a calibration or tune and save it, then it registers it on HPTuners server.

You do not need to be connected to the internet to write the tune. I write modifications all the time from the side of the road

I am talking about one provided to me by a remote tuner. I think they register them with HP tuners. If you watch the script at the bottom of the tool when you initiate a write, it says "querying HPTuners server" for a split second. Maybe it's for some other reason. But I am pretty sure the tune that is sent to me will not write unless I am connected to the internet. I get an error message. Connect to the internet, then all is well.
