Let me start by saying I understand I should not have trusted this guy and the deal was too good to be true. Completely my fault. I’m just posting this so that way he doesn’t scam anyone else.

I posted on the forum that I was looking to buy some injectors. This guy who goes by Marc reaches out to me and ultimately I ended up sending him $350 via Venmo. Details are below

If you paid with a credit card configured with your Venmo, dispute the transaction.

EDIT: Just saw you made the payment "to a friend" which likely falls outside of your credit card's buyer protection. I would check anyway.

Again, hindsight is 20-20 I’m away now how shady it seemed. It is what it is. I only posted it so this D-bag doesn’t try to rip anyone else off

yeah the moneys gone. Neither venmo or my credit card company can do anything about it. It is what it is🤷‍♂️

Although youre trying to do the right thing and be helpful this guy isnt dumb enough to use the same contact info again. These guys have been lurking here looking for a fish and you're today's fish. When these morons reach out it is very obvious. It's not even subtle. Sorry you lost your cash but the signs were there. I hate that they keep finding people who fall for it. Thanks for posting.

You provided people useful information regardless of them changing their user name. Always search on Google and other search engines to see if there are any known complaints out there.

True statement, but Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware) comes to my mind here. If it sounds too good to be true, then MOST of the times it is.

The signs here that would send my Spidey sense tingling would be how they wanted to be paid. If the person doesn't want to use a source that allows you some type of protection (PayPal or something that would give you some way to dispute when/if something like this happens), then I'd pass on hte deal, no matter how good it was.

Pardon my French but Scammers Suck and I'm Sorry that this happened to you!

I'm not sure why but someone saying "Neatly used" would have immediately made me hesitate on the transaction so I could dig in a little more. It sucks that this stuff happens.

After our Moderator @Booky saw this he investigated timada and banned him.
While looking around about timada I saw in another thread someone suspected him as a scammer.

Most all scammers will send the PM and say I have what you need and sometimes they post it.

ALWAYS Beware of those words "I have what you need"
Think about it, are they following the Market place rules?
General Rules

  • Sellers and buyers MUST have a minimum of 40 posts to participate in the Marketplace ( sandbagging to get post count up will result in infractions and/or banning and will result in all posts being removed)
  • When an item has sold please update the thread to let everyone know the sale is now closed (you may also contact a mod to close thread)
  • State preferred method of payment (PayPal, Item Trade, Money Transfers etc)
  • Include asking price or "best offer" (OBO) in description of item.
  • Be descriptive of the item(s) for sale. Condition, miles, when purchased etc.
  • Do not leave negative comments about the price or quality of an item. If you don't like it, move on. This includes spamming a classified with off-topic banter.
  • Include pic of item for sale with your Hellcat.ORG username AND date clearly visible in photo.
  • Supporting Vendors are NOT to use private classifieds. Please use your respective section for all sales.
  • Feeler threads (gauging interest) will be deleted and infractions/warnings given out.

Want to Buy Requirements

  • State whether an exact item is wanted or list an acceptable equivalent.
  • List the price you are willing to pay for the item.
  • Member: When an offer comes in and the price does not meet your expectations, decline politely rather than engaging in negative banter.
  • Seller: If the price someone is willing to pay for an item is not reasonable do NOT leave a negative comment, simply let them know what a reasonable and expected price is for such an item.

I don't even know why we have a "want to buy" section, you are just asking for these scum bags to come out of the shadows to rip you off. Check to see what people are selling, if it's something you need and you do your due diligence on the seller then make the deal.

I'm aware you can still be scammed there too, but it's easier to say "I got what you need" for anything, vs making a for sale thread for something specific to scam people.

Hindsight is not applicable here as it is 99% guaranteed a scammer with reach out to everyone who posts to the WTB section.

Use PayPal only and send as a merchant. You can eat the fees. I currently bought a higher priced item off the forums and I have not received tracking yet, but I could care less since I used PayPal merchant. I will get my money back if I get scammed.

Be more mindful with your money, so many scammers on these forums. I would wager money these scammers built an algo to scrape all the forums WTB sections and they rifle out emails to anyone and everyone...and just like a Vegas stripper, they will tell you what you want to hear so you open up your wallet.

I prefer to speak to someone when getting details, if you can't answer your phone and speak clearly and be informative on the item and your experience with it then I'm not sending you any funds and certainly not vendmo. Thanks for posting this for others to read and hopefully learn from.
