I bought a 2016 Challenger Hellcat friday which to my knowledge has a Diablo tune using a Trinity tuner and a AFE Momentum intake. The exhaust is louder than I would think stock would be so I am guessing the mid pipe has been removed or something else changed. I don't have a lift available to look and its too wet outside to put the car on jack stands today.

Would you leave the tune alone or set it back to stock until you could get a proper tune that you trust is safe? The Trinity Tuner would not read the PCM or whatever it is called on these cars last night. I might not have done it correctly

It would also be a good idea to verify there are no additional mods like pulleys, injectors, fuel pump, LT headers, etc, which may not be safe with the stock tune.

I once considered buying a tuned HC but it was too big of a deal to get it because of distance. I would want to know EVERYTHING that was changed from OEM. You need this information simply to maintain it. Did not the seller provide all this info? Also, you can’t change it back if you don’t know what has changed. Let us know how it goes.

I must not understand how the Diablo tuner works then. I have owned two other tuned cars and both had tuners SCT/GIAC which stored the factory settings and you could set the car back to stock when or if needed. The seller which was a local used car lot which sales mainly sports cars and lifted trucks mentioned the intake and Diablo tune. The guy said the car had around 780hp now but I didn't ask where he came up with that number. I grew up with a da who was a new and used car dealer and I have heard a lot of BS buying, selling and trading over the years.

I am just curious now because I do not want a blown engine anytime soon. I have to stop by the dealership to pick up registration paper so I can tag the car and will ask more then.

I dunno which tune is in yer car but the Diablo tune for my scat (even the 91 octane tune) had purdy aggressive timing

What did you get w the car? Did it come w a t2 that’s married to the car? If so it’s easy to put stock tune back. Search the net for instructions if you didn’t get any and want to do so but as stated ya need to figure out what combo you have and tune it accordingly

If it has 780 hp it has some mods other than the tune and CAI. IMO you should not return it to the stock tune. I would check the blower pulley, lower pulley and injectors to see if they are stock first. Most likely some or all are not. Then do a few datalogs and send it in to a good tuner and tell him the mods you found. If that checks out then do a few WOT datalogs to check the timing, knock and fuel trim. I would drive it like a baby until I found out what I had. You never know why the car was sold with modifications on it.

If you have the t2 that dude gave you with the car and it’s married to the car and when you hit the ‘tune’ button there is no “restore stock tune” on the page that opens it means the car has the stock tune in it now

*if it were me I would set a goal, take it to a reputable tuner, inform him of said goal and application, and have him tune it on a dyno after installing his recommended combination for your goal and application

It was sold so the guy could get a C7 Z06. The last owner is a relative of the dealerships owner and works there. They have a handful of interesting cars they are driving and most likely abusing.

I have got on it a few times but not ran it flat out yet. Looking at the times thats someone else has ran the car has been used to its capabilities a few times. I am not sure what happened in the 1/8th. The qtr mile time and mph look possible if the car has 780hp but that 1/8th time is really serious and the speed really questionable

If the previous owner is a relative of the dealer it should be easy to get the list of mods. I'd for sure get that list put together and then do some data logs. If anything in the logs are off get with any one of the great tuners on here ASAP

I talked to the previous owner and he said the intake and tune are all that has been added. Supposedly a local shop data logged and checked the tune. The guy must be worried that I am not happy because he gave me a case of Royal Purple and talked my ear off. I will data log sometime soon as see what it looks like

I am guessing you have the Hand held Trinity to use.

Most likely the Tune set-up is for 2 Tunes. One for daily Driving 93 Pump and another for the strip.
You would have to see if there are pully's and a green belt. If you have the SC Pully it may have a ring on it OEM size for the DD Tune.
This is how my Hellcat is Tuned ( 1st Hellcat ever to have a Diablo Tune)
I would only be afraid not to learn about what you have because it may surprise you how fast you may already be modded for.
You will need a Diablo Tuner. Maybe the guy will reveal who did the Tuning.

I was told that none of the pulleys were changed. I know where the shop is that installed the tune and will go by when I get the chance and talk with the guy who owns the shop. He's supposedly the guy who did the work. I do not have a green belt. I will take a picture of the pulley in the day time and post it for comparison.

I would not have a problem with buying a Tuned Hellcat, but It would be a problem if I don't know the Truth. In 2015 my Husband and I were at the Track 3Xs a week with Joshua Schwartz from High Horse Performance for T&T and R&D of parts and Diablo Tuning. I know what I am telling you. There would be no other reason for a Diablo to be involved.
Most likely for the sale of the HC, all the Go Fassst parts were returned to stock. But with the Trinity you could then get the parts and a Tune for racing if you want.
You should also know who the Tuner was. Tuning Hellcats and having the experience and knowledge them are the Best Tuners to have.

For instance Josh has known packages he sells because he spent the time at the Track and continues to do so. Parts get better and many want to go Fassster!
Me I like to Daily Drive and Race, I have my husbands " @Top Cat " Challenger for speed and to pass on knowledge of the parts that work and don't.

I checked the tune and it says LMI 93 Performance tune is what the car is set at right now. It is also set at a more aggressive trans tune. I am constantly shifting manually going down hills because I feel like I am driving in Tow Haul mode so I am not sure I will leave the trans tune loaded even though it doesn't really shift hard. Would you leave it like that for now or change it and any issues running the AFE intake if restored to factory settings? I looked at the exhaust also and it looks stock. I went on a short drive where I could check the A/F at different amounts of throttle and its staying between 12.2 and 18 but around 13.4 normally. I will have to get an adapter cord to plug the tuner into my Macbook to data log I am sure.

Thank you all for your replies and sorry for the newbie questions. I am just trying to keep the car safe since its my daily driver at this time.

Here is some pictures of the pulleys and belt
