Do I understand properly that IGLA defeats the thieves from accessing the lockdown hub, making a new key, and driving off? Right now, this is the one I'm leaning toward. Anyone install it themselves?

I've been looking at the Compustar. I have the neutral cover already and plan to add the kill switch as well. The Compustar has some bells and whistles like the notification if your car is jacked up in interior sensors which can alert your fob when someone breaks in. Also adds GPS tracking depending on the system. The RF lockout is on my to do list as well.

The IGLA is the most interesting to me. In the limited time I’ve had to research, I like that it keeps the remote start function available unlike a Ravelco and seems to be able to lockdown the RF hub. If you do the lockdown at the dealer, that’s it, no new keys without $$$ for a new unit. The Compustar seems like it could be complementary to either the IGLA or Ravelco as it appears to be more of an alarm system than an immobilizer. I’m not impressed by the idea of a kill switch. Either it’s too easy to find or it’s going to be a PITA to access every time I want to start the car. And if the thieves do find it, there’s a lot less stopping them now than if an immobilizer is installed.

My current plan is to use the following layers:

1. Neutral pull cover
2. IGLA
3. AirTags
4. Maybe Compustar

Regarding the neutral pull cover, I assume these are relatively easy to defeat? It could just be taken off the same way it was put on.

Everyone that has a Tazor may want to check out the updated firmware coming out tomorrow. It will have a security update the is a sequence of buttons with the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel and if not done in time and proper sequence it looks the brakes and starts the light show with the horn honking. And remote start still works just fine. Just a heads up.

use security torx screws and it becomes a pain in the ass to defeat, unless you have the bit

That’s what I was originally thinking, but even those are pretty damn common these days. I myself already have drivers for those in my garage. Might have to dig and see if I can find something a little less known and readily available.

Couldn't a thief just un-plug the tazer and carry on with the steal?

I have revelco on 3 cars. No issues, no software, no real technology. Keep it simple. I would do that or a simple kill switch like TurdMcGavin says above. All the tracking bells and whistles have never helped anyone…no do the gps items. You can jam or cut your way through most of it…

I was thinking about adding some JB weld on the strap as well. I added JB Weld to a radiator clamp on the tailgate of my Ram 2500. They were stealing tailgates around here like crazy.

I’m going with:
1) Neutral Strap (with torx heads and JB Weld)

2) IGLA -stops the key cloning and relay hi-jack

3) Air Tags- multiple (good to track it down in the first 24 hours before it sends a notification to the thieves who most likely have an iPhone)

4) Faraday box for all keys at the house (the IGLA should prevent this)

5)Maybe the Mopar EVTS? Thoughts? Might be over kill, but can be defeated with a GPS jammer.

6) Last but not least, being armed while driving, keep your head on a swivel.

7) Don't live in high-crime areas, and avoid them in general. They are usually easy to identify. There are resources to look at crime statistics by area, for starters, but also, the general run-down look of the area and the people in it. Like San Francisco, for example. :) I don't get people living in trash dumps who complain about rats.

1) Neutral Strap (with torx heads and JB Weld) - Bad idea, you still might need to get that cover off for legitimate purposes.

2) IGLA -stops the key cloning and relay hi-jack - Do you know how incredibly rare relay attacks are? See faraday box highlight

4) Faraday box for all keys at the house (the IGLA should prevent this) - I love the faraday pouch/box crowd. Total waste of money. Your odds of failing victim of signal theft real low, like more people are killed each year by vending machines falling on top of them then being a victim of signal theft. Pro tip, don't walk by any vending machines.

Airtags, what ever, I wouldn't use them, but have no real problem with people that do.

I don't know what the mopar EVTS is and I'm not going to look it up either...odds are I won't like it.

Being armed while driving, I have zero problems with this, my only advice is you should be ready should the need arise. There are a lot of cowboys in the world, not many gun fighters, but every cowboy thinks they are a gun fighter but not every gun fighter thinks they are a cowboy

Will say the IGLA seems to be the go-to in the TRX forums. Trouble is dealers are few and far between. I've looked at Compustar, but don't have any faith in the local shop that does them. Ravelco would be good, but lose remote start.

Just hide/bury the specialized torx removal driver somewhere in the trunk amongst/under other things.

Mine is in there, and they’d have to spend a lot of time finding it (after they force the trunk open).

I also keep one with my general home tools.

1) If I have to cut it off, so be it

2) See #4

4) I was a prosecutor in Houston. They have professional rings of thieves that go "Jugging" and use these devises to open car doors to get handguns left in cars, and to steal high value vehicles, then sell them to the Mexican Drug Cartels or are chopped up locally. They sit in parking lots up around the Woodlands and downtown looking for easy targets. Mainly they use relay boxes to break into cars in the driveway at night, the Faraday box stops that. Plus it keeps all of my keys in one place and bonus is they cant use a relay to get into my cars to steal shit.

Regarding being a cowboy, I was a Deputy Sheriff for 7 years prior to becoming a lawyer, I had my share of lead going by my head. I think I can handle myself appropriately.
