got this letter today from dodge that says they are offering security improvements on dodge challenger2019 vehicles with 6.2l and6.4l engine.it says the radio frequency hub-rf hub module on my car contains a software security vulnerability that allows theives to program their own key fob using aftermarket diagnostic tools. the module may now be updated with software to prevent hackers from programing there own key fob. then it says in addition the soft ware update will also prevent the dealer from programing new key fobs in the future. the rf module will be permanently locked preventing it from receiving future updates. you will be provided the option to purchase additional key fobs to be programed before they lock it out. if new key fobs are needed after it is locked out the rf module will have to be replaced. dodge brand will update your rf module with the latest soft ware free of charge . they say it takes 30 min. so it sounds like they will update all of your fobs at the time of the update. but after they lock it out and you need new key fobs your out of luck and have to pay for new rf module and a new key fob. sorry for long post ,copied it off the letter i recived today. i have a 2019 red eye. had my vin on the letter. has any one else recived this?
