Depending upon how much dust/dirt were trapped under those covers when they were installed at the factory, I would worry that they may actually cause more light scratches in the paint.

As far as I know, they transport all C8's this way. I don't know if they did this with previous generations though.

They have a plastic film protection on the paint too underneath the cover.

And this is done in the building so no dirt should be or get under the plastic. They leave the windshield plastic off for loading and door done separately for access. GM says plastic is to remain on car after arrival to protect while on the lot. Then remove for delivery.

This white plastic started with the C7 but only been a couple years.

Yes! & that's how they should transport HELLCATS as well!!!
If this happened in the challenger world, we'd see guys driving around with the covers still on the car (and slits to see out the windows)...and they'd reinstall the yellow splitter protectors over the cover :ROFLMAO:

That may be because the driver took it for a joyride and had it scratched and had to take it to a cheapo depot body shop to fix it up.
always a scandal going on....

Ever see a 2-3 year old car (usually light colored) with rail dust contamination? The hot metal dust from the rails and train wheels lands on the paint and melts into the clearcoat. The car develops vertical rust streaks.

Affects cars on the rail carriers and cars parked by railroad tracks.
