Hello, I’m kinda curious for a second opinion. I got a 2018 HC charger and I bought 2” ARH lint tubes of course headers, now I’m tempted to put them on… so can I run it for a bit and just daily no racing until I get my tune?

I would wait till you have a tune.
You will have a CEL, performance and fuel economy could be effected.

If it was on a NA car then you could get away with it. But on a HC I would not risk it at all...unless you are installing them and then driving it straight to the tuner. In that case you can just granny drive it. Otherwise don't do it.

You can with out a tune, you'll throw a cel all the time though. Mostly, the rear 4 pin o2 is what is a pain, they just dont get enough of a temp differential and dont see a big enough drop in emissions from the front ( 6 pin wideband ) . I ran 17/8 LT and high flow cats for about a year. CEL came and went but it was a pain. You can do it though, its not going to blow the car up, it'll sound nicer. But a tune should really be done.

Now though with all the EPA stuff, most shops dont turn off the rear o2. Its not hard to turn that check off though via a tuner. BUT.. if you have to emissions test your car, those disabled checks will cause you to fail. So, you end up chasing the CEL. I could make it a month or two. It would always pop though after a hard pull.

Completely agree with shade...I have the 1 7/8 Stainless Works with highflow cats and ran them for about 4 months, no performance issues, idle was strong, and when taken to the speedshop for a once over, was told they updated the fuel trim.

Getting it checked by a reputable and knowledgeable tuner will gain the most results.

Does go thru fuel a good bit faster but I enjoy it so much
