My friend went to order a car and was told it will be a while because the factory shut down another 3 weeks? Anyone can confirm or deny this? Thank you all.

Most auto plants have a July shutdown every year. Some one week, some 2. Toyota and Ford are both shut down in ky. Next week. Although Toyota is running one shift per day with volunteers to get some cars out the door.

I've heard recently that since they were shut down in March, the 2 week summer shutdown was cancelled. Then I heard they are shut down this week for parts shortage, followed by already established summer shutdown.

Who knows, but a shutdown shouldn't impact an order going in. But it could be a while. Have seen some fast ones go out the door, and some very long waits. I'm unfortunately on the long end of the wait (April order). But I'll get it eventually. Heck, might even turn it right around for a profit and order a 2022.

Don't expect that to work. 2021 pricing is based on the costs to Stelantis to make the cars. That's based on the pricing for components from their various suppliers. The last two years have been brutal, and it's pretty obvious that pricing for parts is going to go up for the next year's contract. The result is that 2022 car pricing will probably also be significantly higher.

You might make some margin flipping a 2021, but that margin will probably be eaten by the increased price tag on the next model year.

Probably.

Yes.
1 week because of parts shortages
2 weeks because of summer maintenance/ shutdown

they’ll open back up on 8/2 if I understood it correctly.
Yup, my buddy works there and it's the normal Summer pause. My car got caught in it in 2019. The wait was torture.

I would recommend scream. I have a shipping date from my dealer now of 8-2....still not built, so unless the hellcat fairies are showing up during shutdown, not really expecting mine until october at this point (april order).

I ordered my Charger Redeye on June 11th. I knew the wait would be long with everything going on but this sucks haha. It's still in D status. I was fine and wasn't even thinking about it the whole time until today.

Really glad I found my trim in a 2015 HC Charger, was worried about lead time for orders and financing at the time of delivery. Now I'm stuck between a 22' Redeye or waiting to see if they have hybrid assist for acceleration on the 23'. Two weeks ago Dodge closed the Brampton Plant down again, not sure about re-opening but I have no idea where they are at with getting the chips.

Ordered mine in June had the vin 4 days later and now I'm seeing this. I have this convo so I'm not sure what to make of it. I'll try to post it. I spoke to someone looking for an update and this is what they told me View attachment 577213
You are at status D.

When they are sure that all the vendors that will supply the parts to Brampton for your build can get them there, they will schedule a build date and you will go to D1. How long this process will take is anyone's guess at this point, but probably at least several weeks until you see a change.
