I know a guy with a 2.7 off a 22 RE, he went to a Whipple 3.0 after 350 miles of break in on the motor. It’s like new, if your interested in it PM me.
Did I miss why no warranty?
there’s an aftermarket warranty. $5500 and ifs basically good for up to 5k a visit. Anything above that and I pay the full ride. They knew when things go wrong they go wrong big I’m sure. The warranty that was lined up when I was going to buy it was wayyy better. It played a big part in me buying it before I could get a thorough inspection done. Unfortunately when I went to pick it up they had denied me coverage and I got stuck with this one. So there I was papers infront of me, 3 hours outta town, thinking about this for years… I just signed it.

You will be able to drive that without issues for quite awhile. I have only heard of 1 or 2 that actually failed.
Keep an eye out for a blower for sale.
They do pop up from time to time. There was here in Quebec a little while ago with low mileage for $3500 or so. Shipping wouldn't be cheap due to the weight, but still better than trying to do the border crossing thing from the US. With exchange and duties witch will add taxes vs buying from someone here.
Mine made noise like that for over a year before the dealer decided to do something about it when it was on warranty.
Thanks, I mean I can’t hear it inside the cab of the car yet… well maybe when it’s perfectly quiet and at idle. Maybe I can take it about 2000km home and back next long weekend? Does it cause further damage driving it here and there?

Honestly I would have no issues driving it.
Of course it has that power steering like whine but the two blowers that were removed at my dealer that I know of, the mechanics took them home. I may still get mine back if he has no use for it.
I could hear mine inside the car and people outside could hear it. I raced with that for 2 years.
Complete failures are very rare.
I can check with the local tuner to see if he has any. He let me know he was getting a few in awhile back. 2.4 & 2.7 with low miles,
2000km if I remember correctly.

Ya if he has a couple good ones that would be great if just starting on the whole path to fixing it it today. The dealer will be trying to figure it out tomorrow when things open but i imagine they’ll have trouble sourcing one.

and you would drive it eh? Like if it does blow up then I’m into entire new engine 30.000k territory ?

Before it blows up I'm sure the noise will be getting worse. The ones that I've seen pics of the intercooler bricks appeared to catch everything. Not saying this is ideal but these ones made noise for a long time and I believe one of them at least was pullies.
I could hear mine in the car with the radio on low and it was like that for 2 years and many vet visits.

I'm going to answer this one like a doctor would answer a question about if you keep eating too much fried chicken and beer. Eating/drinking that too often will give you a heart attack. The doc will tell you not to eat that stuff and instead eat kale, tofu and drink water.

Driving an engine with a bad blower bearing will result in a failure of the blower at some point. It could be tomorrow or 3 years down the road. When it fails, it could spit chunks of the rotors down your intake and ruin the engine.

Now, the reality is that it likely won't fail soon. They're like wheel bearings. They get noisy, then loud, then nauseatingly loud before they seize up. Now, when they do seize up, they do bad, bad things. It's possible for them to seize up before they starting making the ear-splitting loud whiny noise. It's just rare... like getting struck by lightning rare. It's anybody's guess as to what happens when one of them actually seizes. They can break the rotors and send junk into your engine, which could result in a need for a whole new engine. It's not a given though. They can just as well seize and just lock the blower down... maybe force it to sling a belt and turn the underside of your engine compartment into a full plate of shredded rubber spaghetti.

Realistically, you can probably drive it a good while before you run an elevated risk of harm. However, like the doctor example above, there is a risk right now of causing a catastrophic failure. It's just very small.

It it is a real problem, I'd do this in a heartbeat:

Take the wife (in her car) for a nice weekend in the U.S. and come home with what you need.

Regardless of anything else, you need to:

1. Confirm you have a problem.
2. Fix it!

My Dealership replaced the supercharger snout on my 2016 Challenger Hellcat because it had the bearing noise. When I picked it up from the Dealership, the new one sounded exactly like the original. I ran my Hellcat Hard for many miles and never had any issues.

Yes, @Booky makes a good point. It most likely is the front snout bearing, if it where me I’d be changing it first, myself, but I realize not all can do such. And I’ve heard of a few shops doing it for guys and butchering the thing in one way or another or many lol and causing more harm then good. You have the mechanical ability to pull the snout off and send it to a reputable shop that does these like SDG , Jokers, Jon Bond etc? ( or me, I’d do it for you cheap)

I believe it is an early 15 or 16, past its warranty date (he has said he had some type of limited extended warranty that covers things up to $5,000?).
Dad gum, $97K Canadian converts to $74,500 US. So, 75 K for a 6-7 year old base Hellcat? I feel bad for the OP but I can't connect those dots. Must have something to due with the Canadian market. Blows that Canadians make the car and get the scraps and dirty end of the stick on pricing. Yeah, just live and learn and move forward. Buying pre-owned cars is a tricky business if they are models that are subject to being modded or abused. I will admit that I would be depressed and lose some sleep as well. In the grand scheme it's just going to be a bump in the road looking back in a couple years. Just take care of anything that needs to be fixed and don't beat yourself up about it. Good luck.

Correct! Plus remember cars cost waaay more there in the first place. He might have gotten a fair deal on a fixer-upper. Anyone buying a used "performance" car should expect this. He should move forward, fix it, then enjoy it!

For those of us that are behind.. What happened to your warranty? US car? Over miles?
2016, 35,000

I think mine sounds pretty damn close to this

it was 67-68 then taxes which we do pay on used cars a **** load in BC, then the coat of financing and a couple administrative fees

Another 5k I’m not counting in insurance
Geez, I called before I ordered a 22 Jailbreak (now have switched to a RE) and to add the car to my policy was going to be about $1750 per year. Sounds like the car hobby and ownership is really discouraged in Canada. I was told by my agent that a big driver of our recently increasing rates is the escalating cost to repair. So it's more in Canada. But more than double? On a 6 year old car? Jesus. It sounds like California pricing - for a teenage driver.

Insurance in canada doesn’t have anything to do with repairs, like in the sense if they break down, only if ya smash into someone.
