You pretty much have to go from steady cruise or slight decel, and stomp on the throttle as fast as possible all the way to the floor and let the Trans decide how far to downshift.

The engine revving high, and the Trans catching a gear real hard is what will shock the tires into breaking loose.

I have had ass end float with everything in street if I am going along at 50 and nail it...Won't hear any spinning but you can feel there really isn't much actual traction until well over 70

Only here would there be an entire thread of people trying to break their tires loose at highway speeds

Mine doesn't do it but I also have DR. I'm guessing people with all seasons will break them loose much easier at that speed.

Just move to Colorado or somewhere else at altitude. It declaws the Hellcat quite a bit. It's still fast, but I'm not breaking the tires lose at 80 mph.

Two days ago I was driving along at 75 MPH and a van pulls along side. The guys inside are begging me to nail it, so I oblige.

The rears break lose and I'm in Sport mode. Acceleration is brutal in this car, significantly quicker than my SRT 392 from last year. But a few folks have told me that their cars don't break traction once they're over 60 MPH. Are all Hellcats created equal or did I get a "fast one?"

My rear tires are still very good with no hard burnouts. This happens on dry road at 32-33 psi. This is not a complaint...just shocked that these rears still get overwhelmed by the torque at those speeds.

I had last planned to get 305's for a general improvement, but still can't find an ideal tire to settle on with stock rims.

This car is CRAZY!

Great pic cappy.
I haven't been lucky enough to do that yet on the Highway. I am usually in 5th gear. Souls drop it and down and hit but the effects wouldn't be the same.
I agree with you 100% cappy. These cars are rockets

I was going to guess the tires and he does have the all seasons so there is the reason. Try the summers when below 50 degrees if you want some real action

i have 305 Nitto Drag radials on mine and it will make the ass end scoot to the side at 50 or 60 when i punch it.

You guys must have the most powerful Hellcats around breaking the tires loose at those speeds, especially the dude with Drag radials breaking them loose at 60mph.

Think I should return my Cat for a refund.

You do realize this is in an A8, and when not in manual mode right? It will only do it when it drops 5-6 gears.

I have the same A8 and I do understand.

Now I would somewhat believe it, if it was an M6 and you dump the clutch in the right gear.

Dunno what to tell you. Mine will not "spin" but you can feel the back looking for traction, and I have the summer pzeros. Mine is a charger not a challenger, and I guess it is possible not all cats are created equal. Altitude and weather may play into it too. 400 ft and nice and warm here.

Alright 45mph, sport mode, 77 degrees, Nitto G2s.
Let the car do its thing, it went from 6th gear to 3rd gear and still no luck. I'm giving up until cooler weather comes around

Ha someone actually posted at 85 mph too. Cmon. Maybe they were joking. These stories are starting to sound a lot like the size of the fish that got away stories now.

Ahhh - us Canadian's got the detuned version...especially us in Alberta under the NDP governments Green-Plan. Mine is really only a badged-up SXT lol

Seriously - I know this sounds cool and all - but I've never heard of people complaining about a car of this power hooking up.
