Help me out here guys, I find the A8 really annoying because it upshifts so early. But if I do a single blast on an entrance ramp, I'd swear it shifts better for the rest of the day. I have not driven it enough to tell for sure, and I can't find much about it when I search adaptive + trans or A8.

Seems like a stupid simple question, is the A8 "adaptive"??? Or is it my wishful thinking?

They do have a learn procedure to them.

It is supposed to be adaptive and I've noticed it changing some shift logic based on driving patterns.

Yes, it’s adaptive and has a very specific relearn procedure if the adaptive are reset. So, drive it like you stole it for it to learn aggressively

Thanks, but doesn't it re-learn the bad stuff when I putt around town? I have to drive about 6 miles to the closest place (hwy entrance ramp) where I can give it more than 1/4 throttle.

Yeah I’d just floor it stop light to stop light

It’s more based on throttle position/speed than just going wide open throttle on the highway. It learns the overall aggressiveness of your driving. So keep it in sport, and try to be more aggressive with the accelerator and you’ll see it won’t shift as early eventually

So we drive like that because we have to, not because we're jerks?!?! That's a relief!

Back in the day, it was cleaning out the carbon! My wife asked me about that 30 years ago after loaning her sister her car and she did my wife that favor!

I took it very very gently for the first 500 miles. My car is now getting used to my right foot being depressed through the firewall as often as possible. Shifts nice!

You have more room there, I need to do more driving away from the Seacoast!
