Under the hood my air box is enclosed. I've seen pictures of others where the top of the air box is sealed to the intake vent on the hood. Not sure if this is new or something.

My 19 Widebody Hellcat also has an open airbox. I think maybe the chargers have the enclosed airbox due to the style of hood.

I feel like an open box could be beneficial right? Supposedly the extra 10 HP that the 21 model got came from an improvement in the intake? Unless I'm mistaken. I'm sure it wouldn't matter to much being stock but I do like the open filter look much better.

When the Challenger Hellcat,hood changed in ‘19 they all got the open set up along with the RE. Charger RE does get the open design too though if Im not mistaken.

My 21 HC WB came with the closed airbox. All 21 charger hellcats have the redeye hoods. I installed the K&N redeye CAI. Designed to work with the redeye hood. It fits beautifully and seals nicely with the hood air duct. The sound is just crazy!

I’ve read on here that you can order it from Dodge but it’s like the cost of 3 JLTs, LMI, etc. I do not know this for a fact, just repeating what read on another thread.

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense that the Hellcat got the closed box. There's enough redeye guys installing JLT's and legmakers and whatnot, so you should be able to find a stock setup for sale on one of the forums or something if you decide to go that route.

Yes, I wanted to go that route, until I found out what the price was! The complete setup was about $2500 (cdn). My K&N redeye kit was less $400cdn. My only reason in changing the factory closed airbox for an open one, was for sound...mission accomplished!

From my understanding regarding the Chargers only. The Hellcats (707) get the closed air box for all years. And the Redeyes 21+ get the open style air intake.

Yes, you can. Direct Connection is also releasing a Redeye High Flow Air Box
