Just got my lmi cai and noticed a bit of an iffy spot on it. Other than that it seems fine I'm just worried about the potential of it flaking and getting sucked into the intake. It is smooth to the touch in the 2nd picture but the 1st pics surface area at the bottom is a bit rough.

It should be fine. If you're worried about it, you could coat it with a little high-temp epoxy and seal it up.

It wasn't that rough I guess more just a coated rough that's just obviously different from smooth as glass or i just might be impatient and dumb. Ended up putting it on and I wasn't expecting that much more noise but wow it's obnoxious and I love it.

But what a pain in the ass to get the stock box out. Especially the damn air inlet grill tube, felt like I was going to break my headlight.

While I'm taking up space can someone tell me if this is right? All the videos I've seen have different variations or what looks to be an extension piece with foam on it.

I have my breather tube sealed on a bit under the red line, seems nice and sealed to me but the rest of this piece seems to be sitting oddly. Does the rest of the piece just sit like it is in the pic or do i push it into the cai more? It seems loose for what it is. Just want to make sure if that's normal or see if I'm screwing something up. Last CAI I did was 15 years ago. Not throwing codes or anything but I swear I heard my car slurp when I turned it off the first time.

That will increase flow, not decrease it; have you ever seen a smooth golf ball?

Trying to push a small round ball 250’ feet per second through the air (and desiring it to fly straight) is entirely different than trying to suck as much volume as possible thru a round tube

@Zeeble You are fine. Its normal to get surface imperfections when laying up carbon. It happens when you vac bag it as well. I doubt it would de-laminate. The man that makes those intakes also makes , or used to, prosthetic limbs and the like for people. You'll see it start to cloud up and turn yellowish most times when its starting to de-laminate, its not a all the sudden type thing. Your fine. I would shoot him a email though and let him know you are worried about that. I imagine you'll get the same input from him though, its fine.

I agree. Relax. It looks fine.
The rubber grommets always let things relax and sit a little crooked.
