Since no one really knows what's up with these cars, let's relax and enjoy what we got. (although I can't relax when I'm driving mine because it's so exhilarating) What happens next, happens next. But I'll be hanging on to mine just in case things go south!
Me too

^^ hmm, seems as though some try to erase the past......
Anyway, back on track. I was in Norwalk Ohio this past weekend & saw Bob Tasca set the world record for the fastest electric car. 8.128 seconds at 171.97mph. Totally electric & nearly silent.
I'm not a fan, but it's the future.

It is the future. That's why our cars are so special. The electric may be faster than the RE, as are other cars, but it doesn't have the sound, the feel, the cool factor. Even little toddlers know it's cool when they point or wave as the RE rubles by my neighbors. These cars are different. Tesla drivers don't get any of that! BTW, I still think it's awesome to go that fast in a EV.

It's can only be the future if the greenies allow construction of lots of new power plants (hundreds?) and many tens (hundreds) of thousands of miles of power lines. Don't forget, the power plants will need fuel, either fossil fuel (shipped by water, rail or pipeline), hydro (new dams) or nuclear. I can't see the greenies (that demand EV's) allowing any of this infrastructure. They hate all power plants, hate all fossil fuels, hate changing the environment with dams, power lines and pipelines, and we don't even have to start on the nukes! Just don't see this happening.

Maybe the plan is for force everyone into EV's then allocate power as a reward to "good" citizens.

AOC says all we need is windmills! LOL. Sorry I got a little political but in the end it's politics that will steer the ship.

Buy a Tesla and get a free windmill! Just put it on your roof, or, if you live in an apartment, hang it out the window!

Edit:

But wait! Order in the next 30 min and we'll include a new exer-cycle-charger for those low wind days! Turn those love handles into wins at the strip! Just use the code "PEDAL2METAL" at checkout.

This is true, there is no way our infrastructure can support everyone charging their cars. And what happens if there's a blackout, or tornado or ice storm that takes power out?? Sorry, I can't come to work today because I can't charge my car!! I doubt our leaders will step in & pay us for that! Oh wait, my bad, they are already paying people to stay home.🤪😤

If the power goes out, fuel pumps at gas stations don't dispense fuel.

In areas like rural New England where an occasional hurricane or nor'easter ice storm knocks over lots of trees some areas lose power for a week or two. Gas stations with a generator get all the business!

Edit: Sometimes it is amazing that people without a liberal arts degree can figure out how to survive! (Sarcasm.) :)
