In 5 years all our red eyes will be slow as dirt compared to normal commuter cars! Crazy. That's just ridiculous
The slow people with ICE engines will still be making fun of soccer moms bus lengths in front of them. What will happen when all soccer moms are driving around in 9 second cars?!
Honestly I don’t think that’s going to happen. The masses can’t afford the upper level offerings. Even today the average tesla on the road isn’t a plaid or even a dual motor/performance model. In 5 years all our red eyes will be slow as dirt compared to normal commuter cars! Crazy.

Not meaning to be morbid but I think that there be quite a few orphan kids. When the 707 hp Hellcat came out, how many times did you hear of someone crashing one and that's not a car that has Instant, light switch torque like an electric car does. I do kind of relish the thought of a 10 second Pacifica van though because it sounds cool on paper!
Heck, the soccor Mom's drive like jerks in a 15 second vehicle. If you put them in a whip that has 9-10 second capability, it's just going to get worse.
By the way, this is not a knock on Women driver's because there are plenty out there that are Fully capable and actually Impressive. This is speaking about the Ladies that drive like Fools because they left home late to pick up their kids and are in a hurry and are basically Menaces to society!
You can always laugh at them while you're phoning for help as they lie in the ditch because they couldn't handle the power. As Uncle Ben (Spiderman aka Peter Parker's uncle) said: "With Great power, comes Great responsibility!" Truer words were never spoken. The slow people with ICE engines will still be making fun of soccer moms bus lengths in front of them.
To me, being a car Guy is about the cars and it doesn't matter what they're powered by. I respect a car that can do a quarter mile in 10 seconds as much as I respect one that get 50 mpg. Performance can be measured in different ways and I like the engineering that it takes to reach that specific goal. This is the new direction of being a "car guy". Its all man buns and manicured beards and tight rolled skinny jeans and running 9s out of the box. Then sipping your tea on the way home to your loft as your car tells you how nice you are and that you matter.
Its over gents. Get the v8's while you can, and say goodbye to tire smoke.
That's the issue, we are not being given the choice!! Let the market decide and NOT politicians!EV cars will not take over the auto industry unless they are forced upon us.....
Thats how it used to be when iPhones came out. They were only for rich people. And now every 5 year old kid has one. Trust me the EV market is going to get pushed on us and there is not much you can do except hang on to that V8 and dont let anyone take it from you.Honestly I don’t think that’s going to happen. The masses can’t afford the upper level offerings. Even today the average tesla on the road isn’t a plaid or even a dual motor/performance model.
There will be so many deaths on the roads with kids driving cars that are way tooooooo fast for them to handle. In 5 years all our red eyes will be slow as dirt compared to normal commuter cars! Crazy.

But global warming... I mean, climate change! That's the issue, we are not being given the choice!! Let the market decide and NOT politicians!
I understand what you are saying but you are comparing apples to oranges a little bit. The Challenger HCREWB really is not a sports car. It's a muscle car / grand touring car more than anything else. It has a usable back seat, a big trunk that will hold $300 plus worth of groceries or luggage for two adults and two kids for a 4 day trip, is comfortable for those of us that are taller than 6'4", and is a very comfortable road trip car for long distances. I also own a Jaguar F Type SVR and they are just totally different. As far as straight line speed in the quarter mile goes I don't think many of those cars listed would hand the HCRE or SS their ass unless they are on the shitty stock Pirellis. The all wheel drive on my Jag will give it the lead from a dig but the RE will come around it before the finish line. Same thing goes for the AMG GT unless it is one of the 200 to 300k versions, the stock zl1 , and the C8 (which would be a drivers race as thier stock 1/4 mile times are extremely close).Yeeeeeah, but that car they're testing has a cost of $179,000 before taxes. It's for all intents and purposes a $200,000 car. If you compare a Jailbreak to any other non-Bentley, non-Maybach $200,000 car, you're going to get very similar results. The Charger and Challenger are old. Lots of power, but technologically, they're old. Poor traction systems, bloated weight. $100,000. For the price, they're not a bad value. However like what I've said about the GTR, when you compare the car at its price point to other similarly priced cars, the Hellcats are kind of circling the bottom of the drain, right along with the GTR.
For example, in the $100,000 - $125,000 price range, the following cars pretty much hand a Hellcat its ass:
911 Carrera S
F-Type R
C8
C7 Z06
Camaro ZL1
GT500
BMW M5
AMG GT
2020+ Mustang GT Roush Stage 2 or 3
By the time the Hellcat run ends, it'll be 8 years old. Of course the Redeyes are the king of the lot, but Dodge really hasn't updated them aside from minor changes for the duration of the run. When they first came out in 2015, they were king of the hill, but that only lasted a year or two and the other manufacturers have long since eclipsed the Hellcat. The Redeye is a bit more potent, but it doesn't escape the 15+ year old platform and its weight. As of today, in the 100-125k performance car price segment, the Hellcats are one of the slower cars on offer.
Now, if they had left the price alone and kept it in the 60-80k range it BELONGS IN, I wouldn't be criticizing it like I am. You'll recall that when I placed my JB order, I was crying about this then too. The Hellcat is a steal of a car at 60k. It's a great value at 80k. At 100k, it's way overpriced. At 125k with ADMs, it's a waste of money. That's ultimately why I popped on the C8 for $90k. 2.7 0-60, sub 11 second 1/4 mi, modern tech, world class handling... does everything better than a Jailbreak for considerably less money and double the fuel economy and 50% cheaper insurance. There's literally no down side for me.
This is true, especially in the 1/4 mi times. And yes, I know I'm mixing fruits. The point though was that Dodge, in all of its lack of wisdom, has positioned the HCs in a market segment they have absolutely no business being in. There is nothing in a REWB or Jailbreak that makes it a $100,000 car in terms of value. I'd say the same thing about a $140,000 2022 GTR. Thus, when they set the price on the car, they're intrinsically positioning it in a similar space as other cars in the same price bracket. In that price bracket, the HC is not special. In the 70-80k bracket, it's a god.I understand what you are saying but you are comparing apples to oranges a little bit. The Challenger HCREWB really is not a sports car. OR…you could just want one because I’ve wanted one since they were initially released about 14 years ago and just took this long in your life plan to get the one you want. This is true, especially in the 1/4 mi times.
