Jeep Trackhawk - oil change interval

My owner’s manual states the following:

SCHEDULED SERVICING SRT -
Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 6,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first.

Does another component need to have the oil changed because of the supercharger?

Just change the oil every 3k miles like most people who are good with maintenance. Also just so you are aware you CAN drain the oil cooler however the bellypan is pop riveted into the front fasica of the vehicle. You need to drill these out and replace them or else you WILL NOT get access to the oil cooler drain. FCA diddint think forward on that part.

Yeah they think forward on everything, they probably feel the risk of messing with the cooler is greater than the benefit of draining the cooler. Now these are dealer techs they are thinking about and not the average gearhead owner. This is the same company who removed the drain plug on the NV4500 Ram transmissions because the techs couldn't manage to put the correct oil back in it after a service, cheaper for them in the long run but the owner pays the price.

I just found out during my 2nd oil change that draining the oil cooler costs $270 at the dealership since its labor intensive. I called Jeep wave and they informed me that only oil changes/ tire rotations were covered for the first 2 years.

Can anyone confirm this?

On the charger the belly pan is held in with push pins and can be easily removed in order to drain the oil cooler which is actually how you are supposed to do it.

I was alluding to the Trackhawk.

Well aware.

It seems that FCA no longer wants people to mess with it. Or it could be that the oil cooler is no longer the lowest point in the system on a trackhawk.

Yeah never had issues with the hellcats but the tech informed me that it takes upto an hour and a half to do it on the TH. They have to replace the rivets as well with fresh ones.

there really is no such thing as an SRT Tech. Perhaps a gentleman that might be trained on the Viper but there is no other SRT specific training.

Also if they were to really be picky That SRT oil filter is not original equipment and if the part number does not properly cross reference could be used against you.

Just because the part physically fits does not mean that it cross-references or is an acceptable replacement.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

All my comments are what i witnessed and what i was told. Next time im there i will question this tech harder about the SRT aspect of his job. The filter is an OEM mopar part just more high flowing soi doubt they would kick up any fuss. However like you said you never know if they will be extreme jerks or not. I have had all my mopars some heavily modified into this dealer and never once have been questioned on aftermarket things. Once my free oil changes wear out. Its all gonna be on me im not taking it there for an oil change. My 2015 ram i took only because i did not wanna deal with 13qts of used oil. However it had 2 fuel filters that usually required to be changed every second oil change i did that once with an oil change total cost was 432 dollars. So i after the regular oil change costing 104 dollars i did all the filters myself paying only 60 dollars for parts and taking 30 min of my time.
