Figured I'd share my red-neck attempt at blocking off the open space the JLT kit creates. Not sure why they didn't spend the extra time to close this area off but assume they did it for ease of install/maintenance reasons.
No clue how effective it may be but figured I'd give something a try since I had some plastic left over from a previous project and that gap was tugging at my OCD strings. After taking the air vent off the hood and measuring the gap I found the gap was actually much larger than I expected. The JLT kit has the weatherstripping on the top by the engine but it's every bit of 2 inches from the hood. That gap goes almost halfway to the middle of the coolant degas tank to the other side of the intake tube. As such I decided to fill that space as well as originally I thought I'd only need to solve for the part above the tube. The after now has the intake sealed to the hood all the way around until the right side (again where the degas bottle is located) but that area is pretty close to the hood and is right below the hood air vent so I didn't worry about that spot.
I wanted to be able to remove it down the road for maintenance as well as if I decided I didn't like it so I drilled two mounting holes in the middle of the ledge the weather stripping goes over and used two nuts, bolts, washers and lock washers. I also painted the hardware to help it not stick out like a soar thumb. Not the best looking contraption but it came out good for my skill level.
