Just took delivery of a 2021 HCWB May 1. Dealer was great- ordered early Feb, waited through shutdown. Milked the break in. Around Mile 700 i got a ‘service shifter’ pop up after using the paddles for one of the first times, and not aggressively. Message disappeared after that day and took it to the dealer last weekend. Spit out a bunch of codes but I did not take a copy. Left the dealership, drove 45 min. Now 775 miles- the whole dash lights up, power
steering out, power brakes out, wipers going the whole 9. Luckily was moving slowly and pulled into a hotel parking lot. As i pull Into a space, car will not shift into any gear. Shift to P and let off brake, car moves forward. Shift to R car moves forward. Now CENTIMETERS from huge curb on front lip. Deploy parking brake and held start button down car finally shuts off. Car towed back to dealer at 775 miles- nobody knows what’s wrong with. Thanks for the therapy session let me know how much I owe!

Sucks bro. That's why I wanna sell mine and by a manual😂 Never had any issues with the 392 M6. You know, all these electronics suck dude. I had to hire a lawyer and force Chrysler to buy back a Pacifica we bought, brand new, had 0 miles, we test drove and bought it. It was the nice touring l model, the second highest trim. It had everything, it was such a great family car... until we put a few hundred miles on it. Auto start/stop started malfunctioning. They replaced the module. By 1400 miles, we started having an issue where it would stop moving, put the parking brake on, and lock the tranny. It literally did this the first time, during a turn, and stopped us in front of high speed oncoming traffic. They had it in the shop for 2 weeks. Got it back, fixed they said. Became a nightmare. It spent at least 4 months in the shop straight. They tried everything. Chrysler had the nerve to not volunteer a buyback. Had to lawyer up. I'd bet there's a chance they could be reusing parts do to the shortage, from destroyed/bought back vehicles.

TLDR: Get ready to force a manufacturer buyback. Odds are you got a bad build, something wrong with the electronics. Wouldn't surprise me if they are reusing parts from lemon buybacks they can't do anything else with.

I would love to have the VIN on your Pacifca buyback--I would pull up the final repair after buyback and see what the resolution was. I work closely with Stellantis.

They had engineers come down to the dealer trying to figure it out. It was odd. They replaced the wiring harnesses, modules and sensors, the trans module like 5 times, the ecu or whatever the computer is called. They went through everything. Worst experience ever. We're terrified to buy another one now.

Every warning in the car would come on and off, trans kept locking up, car would shut off. Dude it terrifying to drive. I had to refuse to take the car from dealer after the 5th time they claimed it was fixed.

Edit: sorry I don't know you, you could be anyone. You won't be getting any personal info like that, and probably shouldn't be asking for it either.

I really Hope I am not in that buyback boat! Hoping someone here has may be had this as well. Have seen similar symptoms but have not seen this on any other forum with a 21 less than 1k miles. What should my expectations be?
1mile shooter would be happy to provide vin if you can verify it’s not some scam

Buyback? Buy back is already being mentioned without even a diagnosis? Wow. Man people are chomping at the bit to buy cars and bail at the first sign of trouble. There is a warranty and not every issue warrants a buy back. In fact most don't warrant that. The fact that it’s an A8 almost certainly has zero to do with the symptoms and a M wouldn't save the day. Re-using parts from lemons? How do people even think this stuff up lol. Sounds electrical like a faulty alternator or a wire connector type of deal. I’d be really surprised if they don’t figure it out super quickly. I had a 2015 SRT throw a CEL that no one could figure out initially at 900 miles. Turns out a connector pin was bent from someone shoving the connectors together too quickly causing an intermittent short. Usually when it’s this quick after a build it’s something stupid during the build. They’ll figure it out. Reading these posts I just picture rats bailing off of a ship that isnt sinking just because a wave hit the side lol.

I had a very similar issue in a fairly new Ford F-150. The engine abruptly stopped, merging on to the busy interstate, with several warning lights, no power steering or brakes and coasting to a stop. It turned out to be a fried fuel pump circuit. Ford had known about the problem and even sold a fuel pump relocation kit because of so many instances of this issue, but never issued a recall for some reason. That was my last Ford. Not because of the malfunction so much, but the fact that they knew about it and did not issue a recall.

When it happened to me, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Problem kept recurring. Over, and over, and over. We tried and tried,, but had to let go eventually. The issues with his car sound a lot like the issues we had, that required a buyback. Not saying it's gonna go that way, but he should be prepared to pursue it as an option if they can't successfully repair it. With all the shortages right now, it really wouldn't surprise me if they are re using parts from old bought back vehicles, or sub par parts. Companies are about 1 thing, money.

I would Hope it’s something simple as well, but the fact it’s been at the dealer a week and nobody knows what’s wrong with it doesn’t inspire confidence. I just want the car I’m paying for. And when I recieve it back I don’t want to worry about it this happening again at highway speed.
Exactly why I brought up a buy back. Mine was at the dealer for a week first time. HEY GOOD NEWS ITS FIXED! Awesome. Until 3 days later it happened again, along with other electronics issues. I'm surprised to hear it happening on a challenger though, they're actually really reliable cars.
