Thanks for the reply, my car is kept in an underground parkade, although never know where you can park during a road trip, waterproof sock sounds like a great idea even if I only put er on when I need to. I think that I might just pull the air filter off… it looks pretty damn dry anyways… take it to the parts store and try to find a sock and oil er up at the same time… maybe get buddy to show me how much to oil it up I’ve only used one wayyy back when I was 17 so I’m a bit out of touch. I was kinda disappointed to see the K&N but what can you do. Do you happen to have a place that sells these socks if he doesent know what I’m talking aboutConsidering that a large portion of Hellcats are either fair weather drivers or garage queens that only see the light of day 1-2x a month on a cloudless day... it's likely set up correctly for the person who wanted to maximize underhood heat extraction for the sake of a loss in wet weather peace of mind, that it likely would never be driven in anyway. There's minimal risk of damage without the shield in place. Unless of course it's parked outside during a rain storm and it absolutely saturates the filter. Then... maybe... you could hydrolock the motor. There's probably a 1:1,000 chance of that happening, if not even more remote.
You could install the shield if you like, or get a waterproof sock like what I used. Mine was a 2020 and didn't have the vent above it, but I live in an ultra high pollen area and the pollen here ruins oiled filters. I used this sock for the same reason you use filter socks in the desert. However, this one is rain proof for up to 6 months. When I got the JLT I bought something like 10 replacement socks and only ended up using 2 in 2 years.

I have one of those socks for my harley air filter for when it rains......... Works fine. The bike has a large filter hanging off the side and way more water hits that in a downpour then where your filter is in the hellcat. Only drove it in a downpour a few times when I got stuck, but the bike ran fine and the sock kept the filter dry!
Thanks man, that’s a silly set up I will be changing it one day, might of just been an old boy who likes his k and n or a guy who wants to hear that supercharger howl, it’s like 10 times louser than my last one, actiallly it was rare to hear it on the last one, thing I don’t care for is the air intake temperatures are way higher than they are with a stock air box.I have one of those socks for my harley air filter for when it rains......... Yep, socks work and do not cut any air flow. I actually use two thicknesses for the winter snow. No garage queen here.
I wish I had my stock one still. The guy who had mine before me put a K&N on. It leaves the filter open to rain/car wash soap coming through the hole in the hood (there’s a fix for this im sure) and the cone filter takes A bunch of bugs and dirt and stuff leaving a big dark spot that never comes off that pretty pink filter… I can only move mine around a couple more times before I can’t hide it anymore. And it’s a chore to clean it, let’s more particulate in and sucks the same temp or hotter air in.I still have stock Air filter on the Charger....is it worth put the cold air on or not I suppose is my question?
Yea I actually just grabbed a tape measure and am gonna go get the dimensions off my filter so I can hopefully order the right one. I can only guess wThere is a rain shield made by K&N (pictured a few posts prior and they have a rain sock that helps if you get caught in the rain and hides your spots.
really eh? I wound up with two hellcats in the last two months (long story first one had a bad SC) the first one was had mid muffler delete with the valves and resonators still in. And I couldn’t tell the difference when I switched to track mode, the new one is 100% stock and I can’t tell the difference between the valves being open/closed…and I’m sitting in a parkade… am I doing something wrong like how do i hear the difference. I was just switching it from street to track like I read?…Well that was my thinking for the year I have owned a Hellcat and never changed it at all. That whine is awesome though! Thanks for the listen! I did change my exhaust from the Cats back early this year and had the actives put back in the new Exhaust when I done the change. Was worried I may not like it, but that went away fast it sounds just like I wanted it too not extreme at all unless going to Sport or Track mode then all hell breaks loose!
And just saying I thought that first car sounded fuckin wild lol it was a terrorist in my town, the new one is very toned back like a grown up lol, still a little loud with the cold start in the parkade tho. I wish I could get the crazy loud style when I wanted to and then go back to quiet with the push of a button. This stock exhaust is so good on a road trip no drone at all sounds so smooth. But sometimes I wanna show off a bitYea I actually just grabbed a tape measure and am gonna go get the dimensions off my filter so I can hopefully order the right one. I can only guess w
