I go into office every day M-F for actual work, but I also go in on Saturday/Sunday to complete work projects or just to study for my Cybersecurity classes. On weekends, I like to take my Hellcat but since my cubicle sits back 20 feet from the windows and the partitions are 5 feet high, I can't easily see my car when I'm at my desk without getting up and walking to the window.. Every time I hear another vehicle rolling through the parking lot, I get up to make sure it isn't a tow truck or flatbed coming in for a hook and go theft. (I have a suspicious mind, but since I'm come in every weekend, I figure someone might notice my pattern).

I bought an Arebi WiFi hotspot surveillance camera (nanny cam) that connects to my phone. I place the camera on top of a fuse box along the glass facing the parking lot and connect to the device. Output is real-time and I have the option to record using my phone's memory card or inserting a mini-SD card into the camera. As you can see from the screenshots, a white coupe pulled into the parking lot after I set up my camera. Effective range using the hotspot is about 70 feet (camera to phone) but there is a way to increase the range using a second phone. I sent an email to the manufacturer asking for the specific procedure.

I would also be considerate about your office’s policy for deploying recording devices within the office premises. Someone sees you placing that, regardless of what may seem like a valid reason to you, might not jive well with policy

Does it suck if it happens? Sure. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But breaking office policy and potentially getting fired not sure is worth monitoring your car when they would be able to steal it before he makes it out there anyway.

for someone who’s taking a cybersecurity class, you must also know that hackers can now also keep an eye on your hellcat.
Haven't taken that chapter yet! :) My hotspot is password protected and MFA. Not 100% foolproof but likely eliminates 99% of the interlopers.

I'm one of 8-9 people that show up in an office facility leased for 200 (pre-pandemic). I'm the only one who shows up on weekends which is when I use it. But FWIW, I showed it to my boss and he ordered one last week!

Need to be aware of stuff like that any time you’re on private property. Just looking out for ya man. Hope no one messes with your car
It's likely no one ever will. This is more for my peace of mind than anything else. I find it hard to concentrate on what I'm doing if I'm getting up 3-4 times an hour to check on my cat. But I blame this forum for making me overly cautious, although given the number of stolen Hellcat threads that's not a bad thing.

Park by a campus camera, problem solved. If it gets stolen, it’s on tape.
Or I just record everything on my micro SD card and avoid all of the red tape of requesting and securing tapes, if they're even functional. ;) Thanks for the concerns, and I'm not blowing them off. But for $60 it's cheap peace of mind that helps me to relax and focus on my projects or studies when I have my cat parked at the office on weekends.
