My quick write-up about adding a single or double race seat setup.

Automotive design Composite material Cleanliness Carmine Aluminium

Kirkey aluminum drag 55 series seats are available in different widths. Any width with fit in a challenger, even with a rpm roll bar with side bars. I got mine from summit racing.

Auto part Composite material Font Fashion accessory Electric blue

Two cover options, tweed or vinyl. I went tweed so they don't stick to you. They look good and feel good.

Automotive exterior Wheel Wood Rectangle Auto part

I went with a bolt-on bracket, no sliders. Best thing that I could find was from HHP. Correct height for driving and 5-point attachment to my bar. A+ quality and finish, but that does not come cheap.

Gesture Triangle Font Symbol Crane

5-points are only good for two years. I plan to just replace the drivers side to stay legal. I ended up using Corbeau camlock because of price, function, and color.

Font Material property Technology Auto part Circle

Seat bracket to roll bar per nhra rules. Scram speed makes them specific for kirkeys 55 series, but they come unfinished.

Wood Metal Auto part Fashion accessory Rectangle

Everything was bolt in minus inner lap belt attachment and anti submarine belt. I used 4x4 stainless 1/8" backing plates and grade-10 9/16 fine thread bolts. I ended up using jegs brackets for the submarine belt to get it in the correct orientation.

I ended up using my speed tactics fire extinguisher bracket with some cutting and rebending, fits perfect from seat bolts to seat.

Overall, I am happy with fit, height, and look.
Very happy with driving comfort. Let the hate or love begin!

Looks amazing, I know you take great care of your car and I can’t remember if you have done any modifications or not to the engine? Are you building it for more horsepower and to drag? Or did you just want the added safety features? Either way it looks great, have you been on a longer drive with those seats?

Thank you.
Yes, I have done a few engine mods. See below.
I cruise everything that I own on the street, but I did plan on getting back into drag racing with this car. Covid messed everything up in my life, but next year is my year and I am doing it....
Longest drive so far has been an hour and a half each way. Not bad, I feel the solid motor mounts more with these seats, but I love the support of the kirkey's. I will trailer it to the track.

Level 10 racecar status achieved. Now post 8 second timeslips or brace for incoming poser comments.
Lol, consistent 8s are the goal.
Like always that last bit of horsepower is $10,000

Nice! Good thread on picking a vanity plate if your looking for the next mod. I hear they are good for like .20. Kidding. Did those raise or lower your point of view in the car? Rather, sit lower or high up? Guessing your helmet might hit the roof? Just curious.

They fit perfect and my helmet does not touch, I actually have some room. I am 5'11" as a reference.
HHP did a great job so you are not on the floor and can see over the hood.

I forgot to mention that I bought the harness plugs from a member here to keep the air bag lights off, and to keep the steering column working. I am very happy with the install.

Didn’t you mention you were putting a cam in yours soon?

Check this out from hpt forum:

*don’t freak out cuz 06300c says ‘retard’ when he meant advance. He got the numbers part right : ) When you advance the intake lobe the centerline number decreases/adv ex lobe cl increases. Great info in here and if some of you don’t get nothing else from it other than ‘oh shit, whoever tunes for my new cam better be on point” that’s cool too

Thanks
Yes, you just need to remove the module from the bottom of the seat. I bought one from a junk yard because it was only 30 bucks, but it can come out of your stock seat in 5 seconds.
