I contacted Craig right after Thanksgiving, he simply replied “build the car on Dodge.com and forward the link”. Craig came back with a quote that almost exactly matched NADA invoice -5% plus $899 processing plus a $128 VA tax. Gave him a $1k cc deposit got the VON minutes later. Not including NH registration, the net came to 7.7% off MSRP. Good deal!

Since Dec 4, Dodge had a substantial price increase. They also started offering a $1k incentive. AND Koons upped their discount from 5% to 6% off invoice. So what happens to my deal?!?!?

Koons held the original quoted price, applied the $1k factory incentive, AND increased my discount to 6% off invoice!!! Bottom line was a bit better than 12.1% under sticker price!!!

Koons received the car 3/18, wife and I flew down 3/24, closed the deal, stayed at the hotel across the street, had a nice dinner and drove home next morning.

Craig is a very busy high energy guy juggling a lot of customers, getting lots of emails, doesn’t have much time for socialization. Koons runs like a factory, you need to sit, listen, sign, pay, and you might get a few minutes of small talk while some of the other guys are working on paperwork. He said he tries to help customers during the buying process, but I think Koons is best for us who know exactly what we want and have already researched our questions before contacting him.

BTW: Koons requires that you pay your state reg fee to them and they apply for reg and title then mail the plates to you. They send you home with VA temp plates. My DMV has a calculator to find your reg fee even before you buy a car. It came within 1% of what Koons billed (Koons was lower than the DMV calculator). It appears there was no charge for the temp plates or service fee for registering the vehicle.

I don’t understand the negative posts I have read about Koons so I felt obligated to share my experience. When I am ready to buy a new truck, I’m going back!

Picked up my Redeye the following day and just got a great overall experience with Koons. I expected Craig would be fine from past email correspondence. Turns out he went above and beyond to suit my odd schedule. And then everyone else I interacted with was terrific. And then I’m getting a Redeye for over $10K below sticker? I can’t imagine anyone can or would do much better.

Congrats man, welcome to the Redeye club :)
Thanks! I can now trash the bucket list! I'm starting to notice some subtle differences between my 20HC and this. Today I was looking at mounting the Sho&Stow front plate mount and noticed the air scoops for front brake cooling. I might start a list.

Crazy question: did you ask them to save any of the wrappers, labels, broadcast sheets, coil spring blocks, etc that were taken off during the dealer prep? When I bought my VIper back in 1993 my friendly local dealer actually let me remove all the wrappings, etc., prior to prep, and let me keep every scrap of it. I still have it all in a box stored away. I'd want all that stuff from my upcoming Redeye (in the event it ever shows up...)

They accommodated my only request. No front plate bracket 😁

I actually wrote that in block letters on my signed contract! "DO NOT INSTALL FRONT LICENSE PLATE BRACKET"

Years ago I bought a new Dodge Intrepid from another dealer and they installed the front plate bracket with their cheesy dealer plastic plate on it. Screwed it in with frikken giant wood screws five minutes before I got to the dealer...and that was after I warned every sales person there that the deal was cancelled if I saw a front plate on the car. I arrived and went ballistic on the GM of the dealership. I think he had some prior training in hostage negotiating and de-escalation theory. After ten minutes of me screaming, they pulled up a second Intrepid in the same color and proceeded to have their body shop remove the entire front fascia and install it on my car while I waited.

To top it all off, the general manager almost had a coronary when he saw the lot boy walking up with the same drill gun and a can of wood screws, not thirty seconds after they installed the new nose. I honestly thought he was going to shoot the kid dead, right there in front of me. I had a good laugh at that!

Congratulations on the car.

Negative reaction to koons came from them charging 30k over sticker for jailbreaks, that plus the confusion of stellantis not telling people about the limited allocations, it led to some angry people. Dealers are businesses at the end of the day, not a community service center, while we may not agree with what they do they do it in their best interest as any business would operate.

That 6% is offered to match up with other dealers at 5% because of VA's high doc fee it balances out. (Smart move on koons end to match the competition)

The extra discount comes from price protection which is great, cherry on the top.

Overall I think koons is a decent enough dealer to order from, more good stories than bad.

Only thing was the front lic plate bracket. When I asked Erica via email she LOL saying they don't put them on! Probably learned their lesson long ago! I made no other requests.

They did leave the blue plastic on the SC. A tech walked by as I was taping up the front bumper and I asked him and he said whoops and took it off!

Craig actually told me at delivery they don't put on the front license plates (at least on the HC's) because he knows car guys/gals hate them. I had said nothing about it prior to arriving, and sure enough it was in the trunk not the front bumper.

I feel that the ones who bash Koons get stuck on one thing.
  • being told before purchasing about an ADM, or
  • the $899 doc fee. Nevermind the savings gained with the 6% below INVOICE percentage discount. (1% of an $80000 car is $800 = $99 doc fee when comparing to 5% below invoice), or
  • the "double delivery fee" for a vehicle on the lot (which doesn't exist because they tell you in the advertising that the price is less delivery and just gets added back in afterwards). So 1-1+1 = 1. My kindergartner understands that math.

When I initially saw my Koons contract for my Redeye I noticed a really high amount ($500+) being charged for them obtaining my NJ title and registration. So I researched it on the NJ Motor Vehicle Comission site to see what I was (allegedly) being overcharged for and learned that all new NJ car sales through a dealer whether in-state or out of state, are charged an initial four-year term, registration instead of the usual one-year. That accounted for 85+% of what I thought was a suspiciously high registration cost. So in the end, it wasn't a suspiciously high cost afterall, it was NJ charging me for a heavy, gross vehicle weight class car, for a four year registration.

I mentioned some of the negative posts to Craig pointing out the double delivery, he rolled his eyes. As pretty much all of us know, that is a different group, to get the good deals you need to contact Craig's Group Buy directly and give the secret password "Hellcat.org". If you cold call/email, you get the other guys and lousy deals.

Also Craig said they don't have ADM on JB's now, maybe their retail group is still doing that but not Group Buy. I think I remember a post on that a while back. Makes no difference to me, it's still MSRP!!!
