***looking for an a8 black, black laguna challenger. willing to pay up to 5k adm and willing to travel and would be departing from the nyc area. thank you for any leads.***

hi gang,

i thought i would step into the light and say hi and leverage the power of the forum for help for my search for a challenger hellcat. i'm a fashion photographer in nyc chung Lee Photography i currently drive an 83 ferrari 308 qv, 2011 bmw 550 and a 2014 jeep grand cherokee overland as my daily driver. i have had numerous cars in the last 20 years from european exotics to 60's muscle cars.

i was looking for a new car for the summer season around february and was considering a maserati ghibli, z06, gt mustang and jaguar f etc... don't know how i missed the hellcat but when i found out about it in february i new it was the car for me.

since then i have read this forum everyday and have become completely addicted. i have followed many of the trials and tribulations of the forum members and celebrated with those who finally got their cars and cried with those who are suffering being without one.

the order banks were closed when i was ready to put my money down but i put down a deposit for a 2016. the dealer is a reputable dealer and advised they would not be able place the order until august but i would be the first on their order list for 2016. they received two challenger hellcats and they have vins for for one manual challenger and one charger hellcat. they are waiting for a vin on one automatic challenger which corresponded with all the info i have read on this forum for the last two months. i was dealing with the srt rep at the dealer.

however, the above scenario puts me without a car for at least a year at minimum. so if anyone has any leads on a 2015 a8 challenger, feel free to email me at [email protected]. i have contacted dealers through out the country i have been worn out by uninformed sales people and dealer nonsense who wanted to play games. i am willing to pay 5k adm and travel for the car.

thank you in advance for any help and sorry for the long intro.

I think your positive is that you want black, the negatives though are A8 and $5k ADM limit. Good luck in your search.

thanks guys for the welcome. i can definitely be quick!

unlike the other cars i have test drove, the hellcat is a special car. one of the things that make it special was the price. i have been blessed and fortunate enough to be able to buy expensive cars and could pay more then the 5k adm but at a certain point, one of the special aspects of the hellcat would be gone. i'm sure everyone feels that way and members are just giving me realistic advise. just lamenting out loud lol. these are definitely good problems to have.

one of the things that i really appreciated about the hellcat was the lack of hellcat badging. i like the subtle hellcat logo on the side. the shelby on the other hand has gotten out of control. shelby plastered every where. i really think that detracts from the mustang. especially the new gt350. they should have badged it a boss 302 and then come out with a proper gt500 but i digress.

cl

ps. are those the summer tires? they look great. really aggressive.

There is a "proper" GT500 coming. It's never in the first year of the new model, just like the Jeep SRT hasn't been.

I visited my dealer a couple weeks ago to put down my deposit on the hellbaby I found and he said it needed to be picked up within 2 days of delivery or they would recieve some sort of penalty????/ maybe that will do away with the dealers holding cars for 20k over and open up a chamce for you, if they were telling the truth. :)
Start emailing every dealer around the country, thats how I found mine at 5K over. Good Luck!

i'm curious to see how ford handles the shelby roll outs. if it's going to be as fubar as the hellcats have been.
Took my 2013 Shelby three months from order date and it was from a dealer in Amish country PA who could not get a Hellcat at all for their Dodge store. At that time it was the big thing to order, too. What does that say about all of this?

definitely done the email blast thing. no luck on that other then over priced offers. it's evident the email blast route is a matter of luck. just taking a breather and soliciting some help before i go back to the grind of calling and emailing. like others have said, i have never had to work so hard to buy a car before lol...

in a sense the hellcat has given me peace. usually when i find something i have to have i go into bunker mode and do research till all info has been absorbed, scour the earth to find it and then go buy it.

for some reason knowing the hellcat is the chosen one has allowed me to relax and not worry about potential buyers remorse because there is nothing else out there like it :)

Try Jerry Ulm Dodge Chrysler Jeep out of Tampa, FL. Looks like they have a black auto on their lot that isn't sold or marked up.
thank you for the lead. just called but it was a sold order and picked up yesterday at msrp and they are not taking anymore orders. good on them. they advised the listing is automated on their website even if it is a sold order and they are in the process of taking the add down.

that is what i suspected as i didn't hear any rumblings about shelby ordering issues.

cl

also noticed your shelby was grabber blue. i was looking at that exact same car except what really turned me off was the interior. at that price point, i wanted a certain level of coach work in my car and i just couldn't get over it. the new mustangs do have a better interior and i'm expecting the new shelby's to be really nice!

tannehill, i hope my above post didn't come off as bashing your car as that was not my intent. the shelby's are great cars and would loved to have had one.

No problem, I thought the interior sucked too and I had the NAV, it's one of the reasons I had no problem getting a Hellcat when the wife said she liked it and would enjoy an automatic she could drive. I didn't really ever "bond" with the car. I liked it's looks and sound, but the interior was uncomfortable even with Recaro's and IMO the handling was terrible. I do wish I could have kept it, but I don't have the garage space and can't even add on to it because of my development/plot/zoning.

you don't need a garage, just three feet of snow. think of it as a blanket for your car.

april,

thank you for the welcome and the compliment. before i got into fashion photography, i never thought in a millions years i would know as much about fashion and beauty products as i do now.

when my wife gets dressed up, i can no longer get by with you look nice. she wants the full run down head to toe about what i think. she wants to know whether she can wear an open toe sling back pump with a grey suede jacket and linen top!

every time she asks me i feel like the squid character in return of the jedi when he screams "it's a trap!"

cl

thank you snappycat!
