Launch control @ 1000 RPM's in AUTO mode traction control on

When I do this on the street my car seems to hook pretty good and absolutely boogie. I'm wondering if I did this @ the track what the outcome would be? Why is footbraking better? I guess there is only way to find out.

Depends on if you're racing competitively or just test and tune. The launch control isn't perfectly precise if you're trying to cut a good light (competition). Foot braking allows you to cut a light easier. If you're just trying to get a good time, then the reaction time doesn't matter at all, so you can make a sandwich at the light and launch 5s after it turns green if you want to :)

On a similar note, there's also some weird quirks with the launch control in that on some cars, it will randomly turn itself off. Mine did that to me a couple of times. If I were racing against a Hellcat, I'd bait him to stage first and set his LC and make him wait a bit to see if it screws up, then stage when his car gets out of LC just to throw him off his rhythm. Matter of fact, I try and do things like that anytime I'm up against a late model car with a similar LC feature.

No. I’m saying I would love to see @Xylander try to screw around with me at the starting line and get a red while waiting for a system that I never activated to time out 🤪
Oh it's pretty easy. Just shallow stage at pre-stage and wait. And wait. And, bump to stage.

Wait n wait huh?

If yer pre staged and yer op is staged you have 6.999 seconds to stage before the tree times you out

There is nothing you can do during those 6 seconds to throw off someone off their game

Starting line shananigans cease once 3 lights are lit

Smoked
Well, coming from someone who has competitively raced semi-professionally, trust me, there's a lot you can do to throw someone off. That's just one little thing. Lots of people have well-oiled routines. As they should. My routine is more of a track troll, I admit. I'm the guy who will burn out 100ft down the track just to make the guy wait some more while we reverse the car down the tread lines. I take up every second I can just to drag the process out. This works especially well on newer drivers who are amped up on adrenaline. Another thing I like to do is rev it heavy a few times just prior to pre stage... maybe again at the first light, then settle down once I stage.

The whole purpose is to just try and get in the other driver's head a little. Maybe get lucky and pull them out of their routine and cause them to cut a bad light. Every now and then, I won't do anything and just straight up quick stage, especially works nicely if it's someone I've raced before. They might be expecting the asshattery, but instead... nope. Quick stage, and go. I've caught a couple some people snoozing with that one.

See, for running times, the 60ft is key. But for sportsman trees, it's the reaction time that can set a race. I definitely try and bully people who stage early. On the flip side, it's fun when both drivers refuse to stage first. It's like a game of chicken with the stop watch. Competitive drag racing is a very mental sport, and a large part of it is trying to break the other driver's routine and concentration any way you can. Some people are like Jedis and can tune everything out and nothing I or anyone else can do will break them of their routine. It still pays to try though ;)

What class did you race?
I raced IHRA Top Fuel '97-2002. Before that, I ran Pro Stock and Pro Street classes for a number of years. I still run an A/Gas car, but only for nostalgia events. After I hung up my helmet, I ran a shop that built and reconditioned top fuel and funny car frames. I've posted this stuff before, so I don't need to go into it again. And, keep in mind that you're the one who said I don't know about the 7 second rule.

I'm not going to entertain the rest of your trolling.

Top fuel?

Pro stock?

SEMI Professional classes?

Lol. I hear you. IHRA. A sportsman (nonprofessional) organization : )

How many championships you win in those 5 years?
Well, as I mentioned before, you're kinda new, I was an engineering driver for a large team. I was the guy who tested the chassis and configurations for the team's cars. I was also the backup driver for when the primary driver was unable to drive (as what occurred when he was injured for 5 weeks). Primarily, I was an engineer. During aforementioned period when the driver was injured, I raced for 3 events until I too got injured. On the last event, the car blew the right rear tire at 300mph near the finish line. Rolled, broke apart, started an alcohol fire that damn near killed me. That ended my semi-pro drag racing days and I haven't driven anything faster than 8 seconds since. Prior to that, I made something on the order of 100-150 270-300mph passes.

I say "semi-professional" racer because I do not consider myself as such. It was never my full time focus nor occupation.
