Hello everyone....I've had my charger hellcat a couple of months now but had not tried the launch control until today. As my quarter mile times had been less than stellar (high 11's with all season tires, rolling on the gas), I thought I'd give launch control a shot on one of the local back roads to learn how to use it.

- set up custom settings
- activated launch control
- foot on brake
- floored throttle
- Tach steady at 1500
- let off brake
- Smoked tires

Lit up the rear end completely. Backed off when the car started going sideways. Didn't seem like the traction/stability control was doing anything.

What am I doing wrong? All I did was smoke the tires.....

Appreciate any help.

Thanks much

Did you hold on? Lol
I haven't tried it yet and will probably at some point.
The steps to do it on a m6 vs a8 are a bit more in my opinion.

You have to push harder on the brake. Has to pull 30hg of vaccuum before the car feels you are pushing the brake hard enough. Its an unnatural amount of pressure. So when you think you are holding the brake had enough..push a little harder. When done right the car will hold your launch control RPM and not go any higher. YouTube hellcat launch control. I put up a vid somewhere showing my first attempt then a correct one. All of this assumes your car is automatic trans. Also search this forum for launch control for the same.

I think his problem is after he lets go of the brake, the car lights up the tires.

Also, I've never seen more than 20" vacuum on my car, and as you open the throttle, the vacuum should decrease. I think 26" is absolute vacuum. Iirc

I just played with mine recently as well. Put down two nice black stripes. OP stated revs were steady, not an issue with engagement of launch control, just the inability of the system to keep wheel spin in check. TC light was blinking away, but the tires still spun like crazy.

It's useless. All it does is keep cutting in traction control the second the tires brake loose if traction control is on. If traction control is off it just smokes the tires. Instead of properly modulating the gas to help you launch it just enables traction control off and on till you hit 62mph.

I've launched 1000 times better just starting in 1st ot 2nd and launching at 1500rpm, let the tires intitally grip then roll it in quickly too 100% throttle.
