I have a 18 challenger that came with halogen headlights. I do most of my driving early morning and ive been running a HID kit from Diode Dynamics for about 2 years now. It's ok but not as bright as other cars with OEM kits. Does anyone have experience with other HID or LED kits that might be brighter?

lol my redeye came with halogens too.

i just swapped in some LED bulb replacements. they've been fine. found them on amazon, eye of megatron they're called i think, they are better than the halogens not as good as the HIDs that came in my 2015. I just liked the name so figured i'd give them a shot. i don't drive at night much.

Go to this site. They buy, test and rate everything they sell. Drill down, they have many videos and reports.
I chose the GTR best LEDs for mine and am very pleased with the result. Clocking them was time consuming but worth the effort.

Strangely, I prefer the old-school HID's for some reason. I have always liked fluorescent/gas discharge/arc lights. Just old-school enough to be cool, but efficient enough to use.
Also, I have some Nightbreakers I am putting in when I get the front end removed from my ride, God willing. At night, on high beam, there is no such thing as "too much light." If I was causing the paint to smoke on the fenceposts going by, I would not consider it too much. Now, low beams, I like them to be fairly sane, and the modern headlights aim so nicely with such a sharp delineation at the top of the low beam's beam, but the high beams? I want to be seen from orbit if possible. I want my own private sun.

How are they compared to oem?

If you are referring to the halogens, so much better. An added benifit to the LEDs, if you use flash to pass, you get instant light. Unlike HIDs, and to a lesser degree with halogens.

Retro fit kits are never as good as actual HID housings and lights. You end up blinding people more often than you think with just a HID lamp upgrade. Most people don't care about other on the road so they just so what they want. Can you not just find a OEM set of HID housings and bulbs?

Off topic but I laughed when I read "old-school HIDs". Old school to me is sealed beam T3s.👨‍🦳

I wish mine had the Driver Convenience Group too (to get the HID's), since all of the aftermarket options suck IMO and/or just suck to install.

I had the Diode Dynamics HID retrofit kit before on a different Scat Pack, for example, and there were just too many components to it (to have a clean/simple install) & it worked just "meh" IMO too.

I have some "drop in" LED replacement bulbs in currently (no resistors or external drivers or anything) and they're better than the halogen bulbs for sure, but I would like something brighter still.
BUT they were cheap, better looking than the orange halogens & literally just a simple bulb swap:
