Hello all,
I installed a LMI Intake about two days ago and other than the issue I am having it is an amazing intake and the whine is night and day. The issue Im facing is in lower rpms 1-3k I’m hearing a faint whistling noise kind of like squealing brakes? I don’t know if people will be able to hear it but it’s around the first 3-4 seconds of the video I attached. I’ve attached a video incase anyone needs to see it to evaluate the situation. Before anyone replies

  • Yes I have checked all the clamps, all is well there
  • There is no other issue just the bird chirp whistle or squeal
thank you and hoping to get a response 😁

Maybe some sort of pinhole in the carbon fiber? I know it's a slim chance but there could be a thin area somewhere that didn't lay up right.

No expert on this, but maybe trying closing off the ends hole and submerging it in a tub/tote/large sink of water? See if bubbles come out somewhere? Don't think you'll hurt carbon fiber if it's not submerged for a long time. Again, no expert, so maybe someone else has a better idea.

You could always contact LMI and see what they say to check.

My money is on the blower bypass valve. Odd that you didn't hear it with the JLT. Check your blower pressure on your screen. The infamous chirp or squeal usually comes when transitioning to positive pressure.

Most likely the bypass bleeding boost on deceleration.

When I had my 1017 HC Challenger, I could hear a similar noise as described much more when I installed the JLT CAI. Much less with the OEM intake. As long as that is the noise, there are no worries. It would just be the characteristic differences between the intakes that makes the bleed off more noticeable.

I’ve had mine on the car for two years and it has always done this on light throttle in low rpm. As stated above it’s most likely the bypass valve.
The only solution is to step on the gas more and hear that sweet whine (y)
